Valerie Hawkins Check with Hill Harper and his first answer in the chat; I'm pretty sure he meant to type "not" instead of "now" below (emphasis ADDED):

Alexandria, VA:
I will read your book because I like the genre... but I'm not black. Do
you think communication styles are culturally specific, beyond gender?
Is there not a wider messa...ge for all couples?Hill Harper: Since
there's a crisis in the African American community with regard to
relationships, I wanted to write the book specifically for that
audience...but 99% of what is said in The Conversation is certainly NOW
race specific. So, communication is critical no matter what, no matter
who the couples are.

Washington Post Live Q&As Interesting comment by historian Douglas Brinkley -

Historical Perspective:
As a historian, what do you think we'll be looking back on in 20 years
from the current political discourse? There seems to be a lot of light,
but not much heat.

Douglas Brinkley: Forget
politics. The real story is the advancements being made in med...icine.
We're on the verge of conquering cancer and Alzheimer's and numerous
other diseases. The DNA revolution has just begun. Scientific
advancement usually trumps politics.
