You can invite friends on your AIM Buddy List by first clicking "Find Friends" from the Friends drop-down at the top of any Facebook page. On the following page is the option to use the AIM Instant Messenger Friend Finder. Once you have selected this option, you will then need to enter your AIM Screen Name and AIM Password into the appropriate fields. You can then select which of your friends you want to send friend requests to or invite to Facebook.

The Facebook Bot (AIM: facebook) will alert your friends of invitations and friend requests that you send to them when using the AIM Instant Messenger Friend Finder. If you wish to stop the Facebook Bot from contacting you in the future, you can type "stop" or "cancel" into an instant message with the Facebook Bot. You can learn more about what the Facebook Bot can do by typing "help" into an instant message with the Facebook Bot.

Facebook may use the email addresses you upload through the Friend Finder to help you connect with friends, including sending some of your contacts emails about your recent Facebook activity. If you don't want us to store this information, visit this page

If you would like to stop receiving invitation or reminder emails from Facebook, simply follow the instructions located at the bottom of any email message from Facebook.

To control what email notifications Facebook sends to you, simply go to the Notifications tab of the Account Settings page.

If the notification is from an application, you can block any application on Facebook. To block an application, navigate to the application’s about page. At the top right of the page will be a "Block Application" option.

You may receive an email from Facebook asking you to confirm your email address. You must confirm your account to verify that you have access to the email address you entered during registration. Confirming your account will enable you to send messages, write on your friends’ Walls, post in discussions, poke, tag your friends, comment, join groups, and fan pages.

If you do not have an account on Facebook and received a confirmation email in error, you can deactivate the account in question by clicking the link at the bottom of the email.

To control what email notifications Facebook sends to you, simply go to the "Notifications" tab of the Account page.

If the notification is from an application, you can block any application on Facebook. To block an application, navigate to the application’s about page. At the top right of the page will be a "Block Application" option.

You can view your current email address and add or delete addresses from the Settings tab of the Account Settings page. Your Facebook email notifications will only be sent to the address you designate as your "Contact Email," so be sure this information is accurate.

To change your contact email, just click the "change" link next to Email. Select any other email address you have listed on your account and click the "Change Contact Email" button to finish.

If you would like to add another email address to your account, just enter that new address in the open field next to "New Email." Once you confirm the address, you can go back and set it as your contact email.

No. Only your confirmed friends can contact you through Facebook Chat.

You can see which friends are online by clicking the Chat menu at the bottom right of any Facebook page. A green dot will appear next to a friend who is online and available to chat, and a moon will appear next to a friend who is currently idle. On profiles and anywhere else on the site, clicking on a chat icon will start a conversation with that person.

To send a Chat message, simply type your message and then press "Enter" or "Return" on your computer keyboard.

Please note you can only message with your confirmed friends using Facebook Chat.

We currently do not support the use of Facebook Chat with third party applications.

When people take actions on Facebook related to you, like commenting on a photo of you or posting on your Wall, a red notification will appear on the Facebook Chat icon (even if you're offline). Clicking the notification dialog will allow you to see stories related to these actions and you can quickly view the content by clicking the links in the stories.

Unfortunately you cannot remove Facebook Chat at this time. To appear offline to everyone:

1. Click on "Chat" in the bottom toolbar.
2. Choose "Options."
3. Select "Go offline" at the top of the list.

The fans of your Pages will not be able to see or access to your personal profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name.

Facebook takes appropriate precautions to protect people's information. Your account information is located on a secured server behind a firewall. When you enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number or your password), we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Facebook always posts to a secure page when users are logging in and employs industry standard encryption. This may not always be apparent from the URL (web address), but rest assured our logins are secure.

Facebook currently does not provide an application that allows users to track profile views or statistics on the views of any specific user content. Third party developers, however, may offer applications that provide some of this functionality. Please keep a few things in mind for these applications:

Applications CANNOT track profile visits for users who simply go to another person's profile; Facebook has made this technically impossible.

In order to be tracked by an application, you will need to specifically agree to allow the application to track your actions.

Adding an application that provides this functionality is purely optional. If you do not want to participate, please do not add the application to your account.

To see how your profile currently appears to one of your friends, take the following steps:

1. Navigate to the Privacy Settings page.
2. Select any of the five links from which you can control particular privacy settings.
3. Click the "Preview My Profile…" button that is located at the top right corner of the page.

When you have reached this preview mode, you will automatically see how your profile looks to most people on Facebook. To view how your profile looks to a specific friend, just type his or her name in the open field.

People who you contact on Facebook in these ways will have temporary access to view a small portion of your profile. They will see Basic Info, Personal Info, Work Info, Education Info and Friends. Keep in mind that your friends will always be able to view your profile and your content, unless you have adjusted your privacy settings otherwise.

To control who can see your contact information, follow these steps:

1. Click the "Privacy Settings" option in the Settings drop-down menu at the top of any Facebook page.
2. Select "Profile."
3. Click the "Contact Information" tab at the top of the page.

From here, you can adjust the privacy of all of your contact information on an individual basis.

By default, only users within your networks and your confirmed friends can view your profile. You can adjust who can view your profile by following these steps:

1. Click the "Privacy Settings" option in the Settings drop-down menu at the top of any Facebook page.
2. Select the Profile section.
3. The Profile setting will allow you to customize who can view your profile page.

With the most private option, "Only Friends," only users who are your confirmed friends will be able to see your profile. If you want to have a very private profile this is a good setting to use. However, keep in mind that people who are not friends with you will have trouble identifying you.

Joining a group does not expose the content of your profile to any group members who would not normally be able to see that information. The privacy settings for your account control the openness of your profile, regardless of the groups you join.

To hide your account within a group, you will need to completely restrict your search settings so that "Only Friends" can find your account. Once this is done, only friends will be able to view your name in the list of group members. However, if you still choose to write Wall posts, start discussion topics, or add photos or videos to the group, other members will be able to see that content and determine that you are also a member.

Please select the option that best describes your issue:

• I'm already registered, but I need to change my name: Please submit your name change request and allow 24 hours for the submission to be approved. Facebook reviews each name change request that is submitted. Due to the volume of requests we receive, your request may not be processed immediately. If you have already submitted the request and the 24 hours have expired, please submit your report to Facebook.


• I'm trying to sign up for a new account to use as a personal profile: While signing up for a personal profile, please ensure that your full name does not contain any invalid punctuation and that it contains a full last name. If you're still having problems signing up for a personal profile, please submit a report.


• I'm trying to register a presence for a business, product, or public figure: We do not allow these entities to maintain personal profiles, but you can create a Facebook Page. Pages can only be created to represent a real public figure, artist, brand or organization, and may only be created by an official representative of that entity. Find out more about Facebook Pages.

The contact email address you are trying to add to your account is already associated with another Facebook account. Please note that you can only have one Facebook account per email address. If you proceed to add the new email address, then the original Facebook account associated with that email address will be removed from the site. If you believe you are receiving this message in error, please click here.

In order to be eligible to sign up for Facebook, users must be thirteen (13) years of age or older.

If you have ever used the Friend Finder feature, Suggestions may show people who have your email address in their address book and/or contacts that you have in your address book. If you would like Facebook to remove these contacts, please follow the instructions found here.

The Suggestions feature has been expanded to help you engage with your confirmed friends on Facebook in addition to finding people or Pages that you are likely to know.

Publicly available information includes your name, profile picture, gender, current city, networks, friend list, and Pages. This information makes it easier for friends, family, and other people you know to connect with you.

Publicly available information is visible to people visiting your profile page, and Facebook-enhanced applications (like applications you use or websites you connect to using Facebook) may access this information. It does not allow people without Facebook accounts to contact you.

Click the "Account Settings" option from the Settings drop-down menu at the top of any Facebook page. Select the "Payments" tab.

To control who can see your contact information, follow these steps:

1. Click the "Privacy Settings" option in the Settings drop-down menu at the top of any Facebook page.
2. Select "Contact Information."
3. Choose who you'd like to make your content visible to for each individual field.

From here, you can adjust the privacy of all of your contact information on an individual basis.

First, click the pencil icon in the Friends box on your profile. Then, uncheck the "Show Friend List to everyone" box. Non-friends who come to your profile will then not be able to see this information. Please remember that your Friends List is always visible to you and your friends.

Whether or not a story is displayed is determined by the privacy setting of the content itself. For example, only people who are permitted to see your "Family and Relationship" information would be able to see a story about you changing your relationship status. Similarly, if someone would otherwise be able to see a particular photo and comments, they would also be able to see the story about you making a comment on the photo.

Restricting your own content will prevent stories from being published, but keep in mind you cannot control the privacy of other people’s content (such as a friend’s photo album). If you want to remove a particular story, simply click the "Remove" button that appears to the right of the story after you move your mouse over it.

There are four main ways to link external content to your profile:

• Click "Share Link" in the Publisher, which is located on your home page and on your profile. Enter a URL from an external site into the bar, and select the "Preview" link. Make changes if necessary and click "Post."
• Go to the Links page, enter a URL from an external site into the box in the right sidebar, and click "Post." Make changes if necessary, and select "Post."
• Find "Share on Facebook" links on partner websites. Clicking on those links will generate a Share Box in a pop up window, where you can select "Post to Profile" and click "Post."
• Go to the Links page and drag the "Share on Facebook" bookmarlet to your browser’s bookmarks bar. Whenever you are on a site and find something you'd like to share, click on the bookmarklet, select "Post to Profile, and click "Post."

To post content from Facebook on your profile, follow the steps below:

1. Click the "Share" link beneath any item.
2. Select the Post to Profile tab.
3. Click the "Post" button.

Selecting this option will post the content and any comments you have made to the "Links" section of your profile. Please note that the owner’s privacy settings will still apply to this content.

Once a user has authorized an application or connected with a website, they can add a Profile Box or Profile Tab to their profile. But to do this, your application must provide support for profile boxes and/or profile tabs.

Profile Boxes can appear on either the left-hand side of the wall/info tabs on a user profile, or within the Boxes tab. Users can add these from within your application or website via the fb:add-section-button FBML tag. Your application must first set the profile calling the method profile.setFBML. This method is also used to update the profile box for the user. Profile Tabs are manually added by the user to their profile via the "+" shown when the user is viewing their profile. This list will only show tabs for applications that the user has authorized. You must specify a URL for the application tab in the developer app for it to appear in this list. A tab is basically a full page that displays content from your application for the user to share with their friends on their profile. The changes announced today do not affect any canvas page or canvas page URLs. Canvas page URLs will continue to live on the domain http://apps.facebook.com at their current URLs. At the present time, the new username-specific URLs cannot point to canvas pages.

Every Facebook Page or application profile that has more than 1,000 fans as of May 31, 2009, can get one username-specific URL associated with the page. If there are multiple administrators of a Page, the first username selected by any one of the administrators will be associated with the page. For your application profile, we recommend you choose a username that closely matches the name of your application. For a Facebook Page you maintain to promote your development company, you might choose your company name as your username.

You can sign up for a username starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Saturday, June 13, 2009, by visiting www.facebook.com/username. After selecting one for your application or company name, you will see a green check mark indicating that the name is available before you actually claim it. In some cases, your desired username may not be available because someone has already selected it or because we've reserved certain names that have been brought to our attention in an effort to help third parties protect their intellectual property and other rights. It is possible that malicious software was downloaded to your friend's computer or that their login information was phished in an attempt to send spam from their profile. We would like to investigate this issue further, but unfortunately, we cannot release information regarding a user’s account to anyone but the account holder. Please tell your friend to visit the Facebook Help Center and contact us.

Some users are currently experiencing issues on the site where content appears and disappears for short periods of time. For example, a Wall post may disappear and not return until logging in again and/or refreshing the page.

It is possible that malicious software was downloaded to your computer or that your password was stolen by a phishing website designed to look like Facebook. Please carefully follow the steps provided:

1. Run anti-virus software: If your computer has been infected with a virus or with malware, you will need to run anti-virus software to remove these harmful programs and keep your information secure.

2. Reset password: From the Account Setting page, you will need to create a new password. Be sure that you use a complex string of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks that is at least six characters in length. Do not use words found in the dictionary.
3. Never click suspicious links: It is possible that your friends could have unwillingly sent you spam, viruses, or malware through Facebook if their accounts were infected. Do not click this material and do not run any .exe files on your computer without knowing what they are. Also, be sure to use the most current version of your browser as it will contain important security warnings and protection features.

You can personalize your Facebook URL (web address) by selecting a unique username. It will appear in the location bar of your browser after "http://www.facebook.com/" when you view your profile.

Facebook reserves the right to remove and/or reclaim any username at any time for any reason.

Yes. People can set one and only one username for their personal profile. Similarly, Facebook Page administrators can only have one and only one username for each Page they administer.

Due to restrictive search privacy, an event administrator’s name may be listed in black text and will not appear under the "Admins" section of the guest list. To contact this admin, you will need to use the event Wall or discussion board. If they remain unresponsive and you wish to gain admin status, you will need to create a separate event for this purpose.

You can adjust your profile privacy settings from the Profile Information section of the Privacy Settings page, which you can reach by selecting the "Privacy Settings" option from the Settings drop-down menu at the top of any Facebook page.

You can view and edit your profile privacy settings from the Profile Information section of the Privacy Settings page. You may want some profile fields, like Interests, to be visible to everyone, and other profile fields, like Birthday, to be visible to only your friends. To allow you flexibility, these individual profile fields are governed by their own privacy settings.

Contact information refers to who can see your contact information (email address, mobile phone, etc.), as well as what options people have when they find you in search results (ie, the ability to add you as a friend or send you a message).

To view and edit your Contact Information settings, go to the Contact Information section of your Privacy Settings page. Select who can see each type of information from each corresponding drop-down menu. If you choose the "Customize" option for any piece of information, you can hide content from specific friends or Friend Lists.

Due to restrictive search privacy, a group administrator’s name may be listed in black text and will not appear under the "Admins" section of the member list. To contact this admin, you will need to use the group Wall or discussion board. If they remain unresponsive and you wish to gain admin status, you will need to create a separate group for this purpose.

You can anonymously report any group as offensive. There is a button at the bottom-left of the group that will allow you to submit your complaint. Facebook will process to these reports and take the appropriate action based on Facebook's Terms of Use.

Please try copying and pasting the full link you received into your address bar. Some email clients will separate the link onto several lines, so be sure to copy the entire link. If this does not work, click "Resend Confirmation Email" on the Settings tab of the Account page. If you are still receiving this error message, please report this issue here.

No. After you graduate you will still have access to Facebook. However, we strongly recommend that you keep your contact email address current as it is the only way we can get in touch with you. If your contact email address is not current, you can update it from the "Settings" tab on the Account page.

You may also add a work network to your account if your organization utilizes an email address that we support. You can add this affiliation from the "Networks" tab of the Account page.

If you are noticing abusive behavior from a person who is currently on your Friend List, we recommend that you remove this user from your Friend List and report them using the 'Report/Block' link that appears at the bottom of their profile.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, we further recommended that you block the abusive user by listing their name or email address in the "Block List" that appears at the bottom of the Privacy page. You can read more about how to block someone here.

Please keep in mind that only your confirmed friends can contact you via Facebook Chat. We recommend that you remove this user from your Friend List. If necessary, you may block the person by listing his or her name in the 'Blocking People' box at the bottom of the Privacy page.

You can report any photo that you feel is offensive by using the "Report" link provided underneath the image. Facebook will monitor these complaints and remove photos as necessary. All reports will be kept confidential.

This box is called the Publisher. The Publisher allows you to update your status, add photos, videos and other application content to your own profile. In addition, the Publisher allows you to make Wall posts on your friends' profiles and add other interesting content to their Walls.

The options available in the Publisher will change depending on the applications that you or your friend have authorized.

The pencil icon, also known as the "edit" icon, allows you to change things on your profile. To edit information on your profile, click the icon next to the section you'd like to edit.

Yes. You can add family members who do not have Facebook accounts. Once added, their names will appear as black text rather than as blue links.

Currently, you can only add parents, siblings, and children to your profile. These options may be expanded in the future.

It is currently not possible to convert Facebook groups into Pages. We recommend that you create a Page and notify your group members about it. Note that you will not be able to send your group a message if your group has more than 5,000 members.

Pages can send updates to fans, but cannot send them individual messages. Any messages a Page sends you will appear in the separate "Updates" tab of your Inbox.

Pages will be publicly viewable, so people searching for a particular artist or company on the World Wide Web will find the Page’s Facebook presence and be able to view that Page’s photo and basic information. In order to view a Page in its entirety, become a fan of a Page, and engage with a Page, the individual must join Facebook.

News Feed is a feature that tells Facebook users about their friends’ recent activities on the site. The News Feed is the first thing users see on their home page when they log in to their accounts.

News Feed drives the viral spread of information on Facebook through networks of friends. It can cause a snowball effect – as something becomes more popular, more people hear about their friends doing it through News Feed, and then do it themselves. This, in turn, causes even more people to hear about it through News Feed, and so on. This can result in literally hundreds of thousands of people hearing about something in just a matter of days.

Harnessing the power of News Feed is crucial to accruing a high number of supporters and spreading your message to the most people on Facebook.

The "Find Us on Facebook" badge provides your business a way to promote your Page off of our website, and help direct your customers to your presence on Facebook. This Badge can be applied in-store or on location, on the web, and in print collateral. You can learn how to create a badge for your Page from the "Promotion Guidelines" link, in the "Promote your page" section when you are editing your Page, or by clicking here.

Page Admins are welcome to build merchandising, ticketing, and downloading applications, or to use those provided by 3rd party developers. On the canvas pages of these applications, they may choose to run paid 3rd party advertising pursuant to the Platform Terms of Service. The off-network website of any artist, business, or brand may be linked prominently on any Page, so traffic can be directed to an external monetizing site.

Yes, the application can be added to either a user profile or Page. You can add the application on each Page that you administer. You will only receive a coupon code the first time that you add the application to either your profile or a Page you administer.

To change the tab which shows by default on your Page, simply click the "Settings" button which appears below the blue Share button on your Wall tab. Then, adjust your settings appropriately.

You can add or change a profile picture in any of the following ways:

• To set a photo that you or a friend has already uploaded to Facebook as your profile picture, select "Make Profile Picture" at the bottom right when you are viewing the photo.
• To upload a picture that you have saved on your computer, move your mouse over your profile picture and click the pencil icon. Select "Upload a picture" from the drop-down menu and follow the on-screen directions.
• To take a new profile picture using your webcam, move your mouse over your profile picture and click the pencil icon. Select "Take a picture" from the drop-down menu and follow the on-screen directions. If you choose to take a picture using your webcam, you may first have to allow your Flash player to access your webcam.

You can edit the thumbnail version of your profile picture at any time by moving your mouse over your profile picture, clicking the pencil icon, and selecting "Edit Thumbnail." If you wish, you can also remove your profile picture by moving your mouse over your profile picture, clicking the pencil icon, and selecting "Remove your Picture."

If you are having trouble adding or changing your profile picture, please note that you cannot upload a photo if it is more than three times as tall as it is wide. If you are still experiencing this problem, please report the issue here.

The Facebook Plug-in is a free browser extension that was built by Facebook and designed to improve your experience on the site. For example, you can use the Facebook Plug-In to speed up and simplify the photo upload process.

To install the Facebook Plug-In on your computer, simply click "Install" when you see the dialogue box prompt. Installation should not take longer than two minutes.

When the installation is complete, you’ll be able to use the Facebook Plug-In to upload your photos. The top half of the box allows you to select folders where you upload photos from; the bottom half of the box is where you can choose which photos you’d like to upload. Click the "Use Selected Photos" button when you’re ready to upload.

To install the Facebook Plug-In on your computer, simply click "Install" when you see the dialogue box prompt. The box will appear anytime you do something on the site that requires the plug-in: for example, when you are adding photos to the site. Installation should not take longer than two minutes.

To uninstall the Facebook Plug-in, take the following steps:

Windows

1. Select "Control Panel" from the Start menu.
2. Click "Add or Remove Programs."
3. Find "Facebook Plug-In" in the list and follow the on-screen instructions to remove the program.

Mac

1. Go into your Home directory.
2. Select "Library."
3. Select "Internet Plug-Ins."
4. Delete all files that begin with "fbplugin".

Linux

1. Go to the following path: ~/.mozilla/plugins/
2. Delete all files beginning with "npfbook".

Use the Privacy Settings page to control who can find you in searches and what they can see and do. Control who can find your Facebook profile using Facebook search as well as public search engines from the Search section of your Privacy Settings page. Control the options people have when they find you in search results (ie, the ability to add you as a friend or send you a message) from the Contact Information section of your Privacy Settings page.

By default, everyone can find you in search. However, when people click on your search listing, they won’t be able to see all of the information in your profile. Please note that you may see a different version of the site than others when you perform searches from your own account. You will always be able to find your profile in search because you can always view your own profile. However, users who do not have this permission will not be able to find your profile.

The easiest way to find your Page is to type in the URL for your Page. To obtain a personalized Facebook URL for your Page, visit www.facebook.com/username.

If you are using a touch phone, you can also navigate by touching "Friends," then "Pages."

Use the composer (the "Write something…" field) to update your fans.

To activate updating via text message, click "Edit Page" below the profile picture on the Page. Beneath "Mobile," click "Edit," and follow the link to sign up for Facebook Text Messages in order to post status updates to your Page.

Please note that if your carrier is not listed in the drop-down menu, they are not currently supported for Facebook Mobile Texts. Please contact your mobile operator for more information.

You can associate multiple phone numbers for a single Page. However, you can only associate one Page or profile to each mobile number. If you associate a mobile number to your Page, that number cannot be associated to your profile or another Page.

Photo album privacy differs from the Photos profile privacy setting on the Application Settings page. The latter setting only controls who can see the Photos tab or box on your profile.

To edit your photo album privacy, just go to the Photos tab at the top of your profile. On this tab, select the "Album Privacy" link in the photo albums section, edit the setting for each album, and click "Save Settings." You can also adjust the album privacy setting every time you create a new album.

Keep in mind that some people may be able to see your albums even when they cannot view them on your profile if your album privacy settings are open. These less restrictive settings include "Everyone," "All of My Networks," "Some of My Networks" and "Friends of Friends." Please note that the "Everyone" privacy setting allows anyone on Facebook to view the album if they are linked to it.

It is normal to see fewer tagged photos of someone in "View More Photos" than the total number listed. The tagged photos that do not appear are most likely in an album with a restricted privacy setting. For example, if your friend is tagged in an album that is visible to "Only Friends," you will only be able to view the tagged photos in that album if you are also friends with the person who made the album.

Your third-party tools may also count clicks that we have already identified and filtered out of your reports and charges. Please remember that statistics measured at daily intervals may be based on different time zones, resulting in different daily totals.

If your ad links directly to the site you're advertising, and you're trying to track clicks on that ad by looking at page visits with facebook.com as the source, it's likely that your statistics will be different than the reports we provide to you. This is an expected discrepancy, as many of the page visit sources will be lost with this kind of tracking process. Facebook determines the location of a user based on IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, which can help identify the country or city where a user is physically located. If a user has listed a current address on their profile, they may see ads targeted to that location, regardless of where they are currently located. You can target your ad to current fans of your Page using Connections targeting. To do so, simply look for the "Connections: Target users who are connected to:" field in the ad targeting interface. As you begin to type the name of your Page in the field, the names of Pages and other eligible content you manage on Facebook will appear in the type-ahead. When you connect with a website, it can access information you’ve added through Facebook to allow you to interact with your friends in new and interesting ways. The Platform Developer Terms of Service restrict how these sites can access this information, and all sites are contractually obligated to respect the privacy settings you’ve chosen for your account. These are the same terms that developers who have created the applications you use on Facebook must follow.

This means that if you’ve blocked a user on Facebook, that user will not be able to see you on a "connected" site. When other users connect with a website, those users will not be able to see information you’ve added through Facebook that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to see simply by browsing Facebook. You can decide what types of information your friends’ applications can access from the "Applications" section on the Privacy page or opt-out of Facebook Platform entirely.

Facebook has enabled third-party websites to use Facebook’s login and authentication system through a program called Facebook Connect. Facebook Connect allows users to take their Facebook identity, network, and privacy settings with them as they browse and interact with the rest of the Web. Connect-enabled sites often provide an option to log in to Facebook directly from the site itself. When you see this, you should make sure that the login opens in a separate browser pop-up window, and that the Web address (URL) for the pop-up contains the proper "www.facebook.com" domain. If it does, you’ll know that it’s a legitimate Facebook page and not a phishing attempt, and you can log in safely and securely. Note: if you’re logged in to Facebook, the Facebook Connect partner site should only ask you to "authorize" that site.

Facebook cannot track your actions on external sites unless you decide to connect your Facebook account to that site and/or explicitly decide to publish a story to your Wall. For example, if you are on Digg, and digg an article, or comment on an article, Facebook will only be notified of the actions for which Digg wants to create a story. Facebook will have no access to other actions you have taken or other information involving your Digg account.

To take advantage of the ability to generate stories from another site, you must "connect" your Facebook account to that site, or otherwise be logged into Facebook while you interact with one of these sites. You will always be notified and given the opportunity to opt out of having any particular story published.

Some advertisements that run on third-party applications link to services that ask for your cell phone number and subsequently send text messages to your phone. While Facebook is not responsible for these advertisements, we recommend that you send a text message containing the word "STOP" (without the quotation marks) to the number from which you're receiving the messages in order to cancel the service.

You may report an application containing these advertisements to its developer(s) and to Facebook by clicking on the "Report" link that appears in the lower left corner of any page within the application. Unfortunately, we have no control over your mobile service. We suggest you contact your mobile provider and explain the situation to them.

While you are not guaranteed any number of clicks or impressions, there are often a variety of easy ways to improve your ads. Here are some simple techniques that may help you optimize your ad and increase your return on investment:

Bid Competitively
-For any given ad unit, we select the best ad to run based on the cost per click or cost per thousand impressions and ad performance. Therefore, if you are not receiving as many clicks or impressions as you would like, we suggest increasing your maximum cost per click or maximum CPM.

Be Relevant
-One way to do this is by targeting users who have interests listed in their profile that are related to your business. Make sure you are using relevant keyword targeting, but also think outside the box. Find related keywords of users who may not explicitly mention your product but are interested in similar products/services.

Encourage Action
-Make sure that your ad text includes a strong call to action such as "Click Here!" or "Order online today!". By doing so, you are giving the user an idea of what to expect if they click on your ad.

Get Visual
-Use relevant and compelling images that directly related to the product/service you are promoting. Make sure this images are eye catching and speak directly to your audience.

Think Simple
-Make sure that the landing site you are advertising is easy to navigate and that the landing page presents information related to the ad prominently and clearly.

Rinse, Wash, Repeat
-Find what works and what doesn't work continue to iterate on your campaigns. Constantly refresh your creative after a couple of days to ensure that your ads do not become stale. This could be as simple as using a different image or ad title.

If someone has created an account to impersonate or imitate you, please go to the impostor profile and click "Report this Person" in the left column. Check the "Report this Person" box, choose "Fake Account" as the reason, and add "Impersonating me or someone else" as the report type. Be sure to add a valid web address (URL) leading to the real profile so that we can review the information.

If your current or ex-boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse is controlling or monitoring your activity on Facebook, this could be a sign of relationship abuse. No. Data you collect directly from users (see "Independent Data") "belongs" to your app and is not subject to Facebook's data storage policy. However, any such data must be typed or uploaded to your app directly by users. If you pull user data from the API, it always remains subject to Facebook’s data policy. When a user connects, you can use information provided via the API to help provide a richer user experience to that user. You can cache this data for up to 24 hours, but may not store or transfer it per the Facebook Platform Policies and Guidelines. This includes data that you may offer pre-filled in a form. For any data that a user manually enters directly into your application, this is considered independent data, and you can do whatever is permitted by your privacy policy.

You should refresh your version of the data at least every 24 hours to make sure you are using the most up-to-date versions of the information.

In addition, if you are ever displaying information about one user to another user, you must use the viewing user’s session key to request the data about the person being viewed. This will determine whether or not the viewing user has access to see the information. In the case where the viewing user is not connected with Facebook, use "null" for the session key, and you will be able to access public information. If you use xFBML or FBML to represent user data on your page, this will be handled automatically for you.

Facebook is still working on better APIs to access the streams of Public Profiles. If you call stream.get for a user you will be able to access public profile stories entered into the stream.

Once a user has authorized an application or connected with a website, they can add a Profile Box or Profile Tab to their profile. But to do this, your application must provide support for profile boxes and/or profile tabs.

Profile Boxes can appear on either the left-hand side of the wall/info tabs on a user profile, or within the Boxes tab. Users can add these from within your application or website via the fb:add-section-button FBML tag. Your application must first set the profile calling the method profile.setFBML. You must specify a URL for the application tab in the developer app for it to appear in this list. A tab is basically a full page that displays content from your application for the user to share with their friends on their profile. For more details, see here: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/New_Design_Tabbed_Profile

You do not need to submit your app to the directory in order to add it to your Page. Go to the app profile page, click the "more" link, then "add to page".

If "add to page" isn't there, you haven't enabled your app for Pages, and you'll need to do that first.

You can use any available HTML application (like this one) to put your code directly into a box or tab on your page.

Any application you create yourself can also be added to a page if you have marked its settings as installable to users and Pages.

Start by visiting the Privacy Settings page, which you can access from the Settings drop-down at the top of any Facebook page. There are five links from which you can control particular settings:

• Profile Information refers to the visibility of fields you fill out in your profile. Select who can see each type of profile content from each corresponding drop-down menu. If you choose the "Customize" option for any content type, you can hide content from specific friends or Friend lists.
• Contact Information refers to who can see your contact information, as well as what options people have when they find you in search results (ie, the ability to add you as a friend or send you a message). Select who can see each type of information from each corresponding drop-down menu. If you choose the "Customize" option for any piece of information, you can hide content from specific friends or Friend Lists.
• Applications and Websites is where you can learn about and control what you share with Facebook-enhanced applications and websites.
• Search privacy refers to who can find your Facebook profile using Facebook search as well as public search engines.
• Block List allows you to block specific people from interacting with you on Facebook. To block someone, simply enter the person’s name in the "Person" field and you will be prompted to select him or her from a list of search results. If you don’t find the person you’re looking for in that list, you can enter their email address in the "Email" field instead.

For security reasons, you are required to enter your password if you’d like to update your privacy settings.

Note that there is a "Preview My Profile…" button located at the top right corner of all of these pages. This function allows you to view how your profile looks to most people or specific friends.

To restrict the visibility of specific profile content from certain individuals, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Profile Information section of the Privacy page.
2. Click the drop-down menu next to the setting that controls the content you want to restrict and select "Customize."
3. You will see a pop-up that contains the section "Hide this from." Enter the name of the friend in the open field.
4. Click "Save Setting."

To restrict the visibility of specific content from a group of people, you will want to create a Friend List to organize those people. You can do this from the Friends page. Once you’ve created a Friend List, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Profile Information section of the Privacy page.
2. Click the drop-down next to the setting that controls the content you want to restrict and select "Customize."
3. When you see the pop-up that contains the section "Hide this from," enter the name of the Friend List in the open field.
4. Click "Save Setting."

In addition to being able to restrict content from specific people, you can also choose to show content to a select group of people. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Profile Information section of the Privacy page.
2. Click the drop-down next to the setting that controls the content you want to adjust and select "Customize."
3. Under the section "Make this visible to," select "Specific People" from the drop-down menu.
4. Enter the name of a friend or Friend List to whom you want to show the content.

You can do this for as many friends or Friend Lists as you like. Only the friends you specify will be able to view the content.

Facebook is committed to protecting your information. We have industry standard and proprietary network monitoring tools constantly running in our system in order to prevent security breaches and protect the security of your data.

In addition, Facebook always posts to a secure page when users are logging in and employs industry standard encryption. This may not always be apparent from the URL (web address), but rest assured our logins are secure.

Facebook does not allow users to track profile views or see statistics on how often a particular piece of content has been viewed and by whom without your consent.

If an Application claims to provide this functionality, you can report an application for abuse by going to the application’s About page and clicking "Report Application" at the bottom of the page, or by clicking "Report" at the bottom of any canvas page within the application.

Yes. Don’t post content that infringes on the copyrights of others or that is against our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Also, use discretion when posting content, and if you’re considering posting something that could be damaging to you or your friends (no matter who has access to it), don’t.

You can anonymously "report" any event as offensive. There is a button at the bottom-left of the event profile that will allow you to submit your complaint. Facebook will keep an eye on these reports and take down events that we deem inappropriate.

You can access your account by entering one of the following into the "Email" field, followed by your password, and then clicking the Login button:

• Any email address that is currently listed on your Facebook account
• Your username. A username is your personalized Facebook URL (web address) and appears in the location bar of your browser after http://www.facebook.com/ when you view your profile.

By default, you can only view users in your own networks or your confirmed friends from other networks on Facebook. Note that you may not be able to view the profiles of everyone within your network due to privacy restrictions. You can customize your profile privacy settings further from the Profile section of your Privacy Settings page.

To upload a video to Facebook, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to your profile.
2. Select the Wall tab.
3. Click "Video" inside the Publisher box.
4. Select which type of video you want to make.
5. Follow the on screen directions for your particular upload type.
6. When you're done, click "Post" to generate a story about your video and store the video permanently in My Videos.

You will need a webcam and a computer that has the latest Adobe Flash Player installed.

Video scaling uses the bicubic algorithm.

Facebook uses the H.264 video codec and main-profile AAC (also known as MPEG-4 Audio) for audio, muxed inside the MP4 container.

View the video and click the "remove tag" link next to your name. It will no longer be linked to your profile.

Remember that you can only tag your friends. If you are having problems with someone constantly tagging you in embarrassing videos, just remove them as a friend (from the Friends page).

If you don't want the video to be shown at all, please talk to the person who posted it. They should be respectful enough to remove unwanted videos. Unfortunately, Facebook CANNOT make people remove videos that do not violate our Terms of Use.

If you see a video on Facebook you own the copyright to, select the "Report" option below the video and click the "Is this your copyrighted content?" link. You’ll be directed through the reporting process.

Alternatively, you can report content that you own the copyright to from the Copyright page.

Business accounts are designed for individuals who only want to use the site to administer Pages and their ad campaigns. For this reason, business accounts do not have the same functionality as personal accounts. Business accounts have limited access to information on the site. An individual with a business account can view all the Pages and Social Ads that they have created, however they will not be able to view the profiles of users on the site or other content on the site that does not live on the Pages they administer. In addition, business accounts cannot be found in search and cannot send or receive friend requests.

If you click on the "Create Your Profile" button, you will be asked to provide additional information to allow you to transform your business account into a personal account. You will be required to enter your full name, a security question, and an answer to your security question. Once this final registration step is completed, these changes cannot be reverted. You will then permanently have a personal account on the site.

If you convert your business account into a personal account, you will still be able to manage all the Pages and Socials Ads you’ve created by clicking the "Ads and Pages" link in the left hand navigation menu entitled "Applications." The fans of your Pages will not have visibility or access to your personal profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name. However, if you wish to restrict your privacy so that other Facebook members cannot find you in search or add you as a friend, you can do so by clicking on "privacy" at the top any Facebook page.

No, once you provide the final registration information for creating a user profile, you cannot revert back to your business account.

If you convert your business account into a user profile, you will still be able to manage all the Pages and Socials Ads you’ve created by clicking the Ads and Pages link in the left hand navigation menu entitled 'Applications'. The fans of your Pages will not have visibility or access to your personal profile. Facebook strives to create relevant and interesting advertisements to you and your friends. Here are the facts about Facebook Ads:

* Facebook Ads are sometimes paired with social actions (e.g., becoming a fan of a Page) that your friends have taken.
* You only appear in Facebook Ads to your confirmed friends. If a photo is used, it is your profile photo and not from your photo albums.
* Facebook doesn't sell your information to advertisers.
* Facebook actively enforces policies that help protect your experience with third party applications and ad networks.

Facebook runs advertisements from its own advertising system that let your friends know if you have a direct connection with a product or service, in the same way that your friends learn through your News Feed if you're connected with another friend or an organization's Facebook Page. For example, if one of your friends becomes a fan of a Page, you may see an ad with your friend's profile photo next to it, indicating the action that friend has taken with that Page.

These social ads always require that you and your friends have taken an express action to indicate your connections with the product or service and that no data be shared with the third party. Such stories will adhere to any privacy settings you've set for your account.

If you are currently a Facebook user or a potential user who wants to learn about what the site has to offer, you can check out all of the cool applications on Facebook by going to the Application Directory. From here you can search for available applications, read about what others have to say about applications, and learn about all of the amazing ways you can interact with your friends through applications. The Application Directory is constantly adding new applications to improve the experience of Facebook for all users. If you would like to use any of the applications that are on Facebook, you can Sign Up for the site.

If you allow an application to place a box on your profile, you will find it on the Boxes tab. We’ve created this tab to help you to keep all of your added applications in a single, organized space. You can change the layout of this page by placing your mouse cursor over an application box title, clicking the box title, holding and dragging the box to a new location on the page.

If there are specific applications you really like that you want to feature on your profile, you can move them to the left-column of your Wall and Info tab. You can feature three applications in this column – the column will appear identically when viewing either the Wall or Info tab. To move the application, go to the Boxes tab where your application appears and click the pencil icon at the top-right of the box. Select "Move to Wall" tab to feature the application. Please keep in mind that not all applications will support a profile box or tab, even if this setting appears (i.e. Facebook Events does not have a Profile Box, even though it has a "Profile Box" privacy setting).

You can also create a new tab for a specific application by clicking the "+" icon that appears to the right of the tabs. You will then be able to select an application from the menu that appears and create a dedicated tab for that application.

If an application supports profile boxes, you can control whether or not it displays on your profile by editing the application’s settings. To do this, click on the "Applications" button at the left end of the Chat bar at the bottom of any Facebook page. In the menu that appears, click on the "Edit" link and you’ll be taken to the Edit Applications page. On this page, click on the "Edit" link to the right of the application in question and then click on the "Profile" tab in the window that appears. Please keep in mind that not all applications will support a profile box or tab, even if this setting appears (i.e. Facebook Events does not have a Profile Box, even though it has a "Profile Box" privacy setting).

To upload a profile picture:

1. Place your mouse over the upper right corner of your current profile picture or temporary image, and click on the pencil icon that appears.
2. Select "Browse" to find a photo on your computer to upload.
3. Select the photo to upload, check the box certifying that you have the right to distribute the picture and that it is not pornography, and click "upload picture." If the picture is an acceptable size and file type, it will display.

If you have a webcam, you can choose "Show Camera" to take an instant profile picture. Be sure to select "Allow" so that Facebook can access your camera and microphone. Then, click the camera icon to take a picture, and choose "Save Picture" to set it as your profile picture.

You can also set any photo in which you are tagged as your profile picture by viewing the photo and selecting "Make Profile Picture."

If you have a webcam attached to your computer you can use it to add a new profile picture. To use the webcam:

1. Go to your profile.
2. Hover your mouse over your current profile picture and click the "Change Picture" link that appears.
3. On the following page you will have the option to use a webcam if one is available.
4. Click the Camera button at the bottom of the preview image.
5. Smile.
6. Select 'Save Picture' once you are satisfied with the image.

To see a history of all your old profile photos, just go to the Profile page and click on your current profile picture. It will bring you to an album of all your profile photos. When you are viewing your old profile pictures, you will have the option to tag them, add captions, or delete them from the album.

Any user who can see your profile can see the profile pictures you have in this album. To view someone else's old profile pictures, just click on their current profile picture while viewing their profile.

If you want to delete an old profile picture, first view the album by clicking on your current profile picture. When you are viewing the album, you should see an option for Edit Photos at the top of the page. On the edit page, you are given the option to delete any of the images, as well as to tag them or add captions. Once you delete the photo, no one will be able to see it when they view your profile picture album.

The "Thumbnail Version" of your profile picture is used in certain places around the site, such as the upper left hand corner of your application (e.g., photos) pages. To adjust what part of your profile picture serves as the thumbnail, hover your mouse over your current profile picture and click the "Change Picture" link that appears. Next, select the "Edit Thumbnail" option.

Facebook Ads for Pages and Events allow users to engage with your ads the same way they interact with other content on Facebook – without leaving the page they are viewing. Ads for Pages include a "Become a fan" link, while ads for Facebook Events include an "RSVP" link. Users who view these ads can connect with your Pages and Events from the ad itself, automatically creating a story on the user’s profile page and possibly even their friends’ home page Highlights, generating free distribution for you.

As with all Facebook Ads, you will bid for Facebook Ads for Pages and Events on a per-click (CPC) or per-impression (CPM) basis. The specific criteria for what counts as a "click" on each type of ad is described below.

Ads for Pages
If you choose to bid and pay per click (CPC), your clicks will include clicks on the title, image or ad body, as well as clicks on the "Become a Fan" link. When a user becomes a fan of your Page through the ad, that action will also be reported as an "Action" in your Facebook Ad reports. You won't be charged if a user clicks on his friends’ names appearing with the ad.

Ads for Events
If you choose to bid on a CPC basis, this will include clicks on your title, image, or ad body, as well as "Yes" and "Maybe" RSVPs through the link on the ad. You won't be charged when a user clicks on his friends’ names appearing with the ad, or for incomplete or "No" RSVPs.

If you choose to pay per thousand impressions (CPM), you will be billed when your ad is shown on the site, regardless of whether the user interacts with it.

No, friend actions can only be used to promote content within Facebook. This ensures users are clearly aware of the actions they're taking with your ad.

Please check out our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, particularly the Special Provisions Applicable to Developers/Operators of Applications and Websites and the Platform Guidelines.

We believe that rendering a user's profile picture on every page of your Connect site makes for the best implementation so that a user recognizes that they are logged in with their Facebook account. It is required to indicate that the user is logged in with their Facebook account in some way on the page.

The Promotion Guidelines document outlines all of the requirements and resources you can use to promote your application or fan page externally. This includes a "Find us on Facebook" logo badge which you may use in the color given or in black and white.

Using a trademarked term in your application violates section I.13 of the Platform Guidelines. More details on trademarked terms and specific policies are outlined in I.13.

Facebook’s trademarks include but are not limited to FACEBOOK, FACEBOOK LOGO, F LOGO, FB, WALL, POKE and 32665, or any trademarks or terms confusingly similar to Facebook’s trademarks, in any way that may suggest that Facebook is affiliated with, endorses, or sponsors the developer or the developer’s application.

All Pages are eligible to claim usernames if they have more than 25 fans.

If you are an administrator of a Page, you will be able to choose a username for each Page at http://www.facebook.com. There will be an interface for you to choose usernames for the Facebook Pages you administer.

Usernames allow public entities to easily promote your presence on Facebook with a short URL (http://www.facebook.com/companyname). This username can be used in your marketing communications, company website and business cards.

Usernames were created to make it easier for Facebook users to identify their profile and share with others. As a public figure, business or brand with a Page on Facebook, your username should be straightforward and easy to remember. Facebook encourages you to consider the following when creating a username for Pages:

• Create a username that is as close as possible to your public figure or business name (e.g. AshtonKutcher, PizzaHut).
• If you own the rights to a given name, make it your username so that others cannot obtain it.
• Usernames can only contain alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9) or a period (".").
• Choose a username you will be happy with for the long term. Usernames are not transferable.
• Your username must adhere to Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.

No. Once you have claimed a username by clicking the "Confirm" button, it is not possible to edit it, or to transfer your username to a different account on Facebook. Additionally, when an account is removed from the site, its username will not be made available to other users for security reasons.

No. Only one username is allowed per Page.

At this time, generic words are not available as usernames. Facebook encourages all users and Page administrators to create a username that closely matches the true identity of their name or business.

To edit your profile, first go to your profile.

1. Select the Info tab.
2. Click "Edit Information" at the top-right.
3. Update information in the available fields.
4. Click "Save Changes."

When viewing your own profile, scroll over the blue title bar at the top of any profile box. If you are allowed to move the section, your mouse cursor will turn into an icon that points in four directions, and you can move the profile box up, down, left, or right. If the icon only points up and down, you can only move the profile box vertically.

When you see this icon, click the mouse and hold down. Drag the section around your profile until it’s in the spot you desire. If you are not able to move a section into a certain position, you will see an on-screen notification. Please note that your profile picture and sections on the Info tab can never be moved.

To add family members to your profile, follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Info tab of your profile.
2. Select the "Edit Information" link.
3. In the Family field, use the drop-down menu to select the relationship you are adding.
4. Type your family member’s name. If you are entering children that are not on Facebook, you can include their dates of birth.
5. Click "Add another family member" to add more relatives.
6. Select "Save Changes" when you are finished.

Please note that your family member will need to confirm this relationship before their name appears as a blue link on your profile.

To add your relationship anniversary to your profile, follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Info tab of your profile.
2. Select the "Edit Information" link.
3. In the Relationship Status field, use the drop-down menu next to "Anniversary" to select your anniversary date.
4. Select "Save Changes" when you are finished.

Note that you must first be in a relationship with someone on Facebook in order to select an anniversary date.

Anyone who is allowed to see the Family and Relationship sections of your profile will be able to view family members you list on your profile. To edit your Family and Relationship privacy setting, just visit the Profile Information section of your Privacy Settings page.

When you see stuff highlighted in a profile, this means it was recently added to the profile. You'll see this highlighted view when you click on a profile on your Recently Updated Friend List or when clicking on a story from your Stream.

Yes. To create a tab that is powered by an application, click the "+" icon at the top-right of your profile page. You will then be able to select an application from the menu that appears and create a dedicated tab for the application. At this time you cannot add multiple applications to a tab you have created. However, your Boxes tab can have as many applications as you would like.

When you are viewing your album, you will see a "public link" at the bottom of the page. Sending this link to friends or posting it on a website will allow everyone who clicks on it to view that album. Remember, this link will always work, even if you add photos or change your album privacy settings.

Anyone who can view your profile will be able to view your profile pictures. If you want to remove any of your profile pictures, you can do this by moving your mouse over your profile picture and selecting the "Change Picture" link that appears in the upper right-hand corner.

Photo album privacy differs from the Photos profile privacy setting on the Application Settings page. The latter setting only controls who can see the Photos tab or box on your profile.

To edit your photo album privacy, just go to the Photos tab at the top of your profile. On this tab, select the "Album Privacy" link in the photo albums section, edit the setting for each album, and click "Save Settings." You can also adjust the album privacy setting every time you create a new album.

Keep in mind that some people may be able to see your albums even when they cannot view them on your profile if your album privacy settings are open. These less restrictive settings include "Everyone," and "Friends of Friends." Please note that the "Everyone" privacy setting allows anyone on Facebook to view the album if they are linked to it.

You can turn any tagged photo of you into a profile picture by clicking "Make Profile Picture" at the bottom-right of any photo. You will then have the option to crop the image as you like.

You can tag anyone in a photo, regardless of whether they have a Facebook profile. While tagging your photos, if you type in the name of someone who is not on your Friend List, you have the option of listing their email address. When you are done tagging, they will receive an email that provides a link to the image. They will be able to see the photos in which they are tagged, but nothing else on the site unless they register.

View the photo and click the "remove tag" link next to your name. It will no longer be linked to your profile.

Remember that you can only tag your friends. If you are having problems with someone constantly tagging you in embarrassing photos, just remove them as a friend (from the Friends page).

If you don't want the photo to be shown at all, please talk to the person who posted it. They should be respectful enough to remove unwanted photos. Unfortunately, Facebook CANNOT make people remove photos that do not violate our Terms of Use.

Please make sure you have not turned off the visibility of the profile box from the Applications page. From this page, select "Profile Settings" on the left to update your application settings related to profile. Please be aware that some applications will never display a profile section (i.e. Events).

Please check the Privacy page’s Profile section to ensure that you have not restricted the visibility of the content, such as restricting who can see your Wall.

Finally, the profile section may not appear if you have not added any content to the application,

If you’d like to move an application in your Boxes tab to another position in your Boxes tab, click and hold the top of the application’s profile box and drag it to a new position on the page. An outline of a new available position will appear as you move the box – release the box over the outline to change the position.

If you’d like to move an application from your Boxes tab to the left-column of your Wall or Info tab, click the pencil icon at the top-right of the application’s profile box. From the following menu, select ‘Move to Wall tab.’ The application will now appear in this column. You can move the application back to the Boxes tab by clicking its pencil icon again and selecting ‘Move to Boxes tab.’ Please note that not all applications will support left-column placement.

You can pick which applications appear on your profile by clicking ‘Applications" at the bottom of any Facebook page, and selecting "edit." From the "edit" page, you will be able to change the visibility of each application on your profile by clicking the "Edit Settings" link.

We no longer support the addition of profile links underneath one's profile picture.

Maintaining multiple accounts, regardless of the purpose, is a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Use. If you already have a personal account, then we cannot allow you to create business accounts for any reason. You can manage all the Pages and Socials Ads that you create on your personal account.

Please keep in mind that the fans of any of the Pages you administer will not have visibility or access to your personal account or profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name.

If you wish to manage ads for multiple clients, you will need to do so from one account. We suggest you restrict all ads for each client to separate campaigns. Unfortunately it is not currently possible to designate separate credit cards for each campaign or to have multiple administrators for the same ad account.

You are able to customize which friends and Friend Lists are (or are not) allowed to view your content. To use these options, select the "Privacy Settings" option from the "Settings" drop-down menu at the top of any Facebook page. You can also review and edit your Friend Lists from the Friends page.

To add someone to your Limited Profile list, follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Friends page.
2. Click on the "Limited Profile" Friend List in the left sidebar. If you do not see a "Limited Profile" friend list in this section, you can create one by clicking the "Make a New List" button and then naming the list.
3. Click "Edit List."
4. Type your friend’s name into the "Add to List" field. You must be friends with a person to add him or her to the Limited Profile list.

To prevent users on this list from seeing certain content, please follow the steps below:

1. Click the "Privacy Settings" option in the Settings drop-down menu at the top of any Facebook page.
2. Go to the Profile Information section.
3. Select any Profile privacy setting and click "Customize."
4. Enter the name of your limited profile friend list in the "Hide this from these people" section to restrict these users from viewing the profile content you selected.

The Limited Profile functionality is a type of Friend List. You can limit the privacy settings for any friend list you create. If you had people on your Limited Profile, they have been moved to a new friend list called "Limited Profile," and this friend list has been added to the appropriate places on your privacy settings. For example, if you hid your Wall Posts in your Limited Profile, the new Limited Profile friend list has been placed under the "Except These People" setting for Wall Posts.

Because the Gifts application was created by Facebook, you will not be able to completely remove it from your account. However, you can remove all integration points for it. This will remove Gifts from your bookmarks, and remove any profile tabs or boxes. It won't prevent users from sending you gifts, but only your friends can send you gifts. To do this, please take the following steps:

1. Select the "Edit" link from the Applications menu in the bottom left corner of any Facebook page.

2. On the following page, find the Gifts application and click "X".

3. In the window that appears, click "Remove" to confirm the removal of that application from your profile, bookmarks, and the Applications page.

Pages are for organizations, businesses, celebrities, and bands to broadcast great information to fans in an official, public manner. Like profiles, they can be enhanced with applications that help the entity communicate with and engage their fans, and capture new audiences virally through their fans' recommendations to their friends.

You can create and manage a Facebook Page for your organization from your personal account. You can create a Page here. Please note that only the official representative of an organization, business, celebrity, or band is permitted to create a Page.

The Pages that you become a fan of will be displayed on the bottom of the Info tab of your profile. If your search visibility allows Pages to be displayed to non-friends, they will also see this information when they find you in search. You can control this from the Search section of your Privacy Settings page.

We currently do not allow users to hide the pages they are fans of from their friends. However, we plan to provide more robust privacy controls for Pages in the future.

Profiles represent individuals and must be held under an individual name, while Pages allow an organization, business, celebrity, or band to maintain a professional presence on Facebook. You may only create Facebook Pages to represent real organizations of which you are an authorized representative. Fans of your Page won't be able to see that you are the Page admin or have any access to your personal account.

If you click on the "Create Your Profile" button and fill out the additional information, you will create a personal account to correspond with your business account. Once this final registration step is complete, these changes cannot be reverted. Deactivating your personal account will cause you to loose access to any Pages and Social Ads you've created.

After you have created a personal account, you can manage all the Pages and Socials Ads you’ve created by selecting "Ads and Pages" from the Applications menu, which is located on the bottom right side of your home page. The fans of your Pages will not be able to view or access to your personal profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name. However, if you wish to restrict your privacy so that other Facebook members cannot find you in search or add you as a friend, you can do so by clicking on "privacy" at the top any Facebook page.

Some users are currently not seeing the Pages section on their Info tab. We hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Please report this issue here.

When a Page admin comments on a fan’s photo, the comment may appear as if it was posted from the admin’s personal Facebook account. No further reports of this issue are needed.

When a Page admin "Likes" a post on their Page, the post may appear as if "Liked" from the Page admin's personal account. No further reports of this issue are needed.

First, click on the Limited Profile Friend List from your Friends page. Then, open the drop-down menu to the right of the friend you would like to remove and uncheck "Limited Profile." The friend will be removed from your Limited Profile but remain a Facebook friend.

This problem is related to technical issues experienced by your mobile carrier and we are working with them to resolve it as quickly as possible.

This is likely a cache or cookies problem. To fix it, please follow the instructions below carefully:

1. Please clear your mobile device’s cache and cookies (even if you have already done this). You can usually do this from an option menu when your mobile browser is open. Please consult your phone's user guide to determine how to do this on your particular device.
2. Enter m.facebook.com as a new URL, rather than using a bookmark or a link. Log out of Facebook if you have the option.
3. Enter your normal login details to log in. Please note that passwords are case sensitive.

If you are having trouble viewing specific sections of your profile please go to the Privacy page and edit your Profile privacy. Selecting "No one" from any of the drop menus will hide the content from all users, including yourself. Please make sure that you have selected an option other than this most restrictive one.

Please check to make sure you have not turned off the visibility of the profile box from the Applications page. From this page, select "Profile Settings" on the left to update your application settings related to profile. Please take note that some applications will never display a profile section (i.e. Events).

Please check the Privacy page’s Profile section to ensure that you have not restricted the visibility of the content, such as restricting who can see your Wall.

Please also keep in mind that if you have not added any content to the application, the profile section may not appear.

Maintaining multiple accounts, regardless of the purpose, is a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Use. If you already have a personal account, then we cannot allow you to create business accounts for any reason. You can manage all the Pages and Socials Ads that you create on your personal account.

Please keep in mind that the fans of any of the Pages you administer will not have visibility or access to your personal account or profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name.

If you wish to manage ads for multiple clients, you will need to do so from one account. We suggest you restrict all ads for each client to separate campaigns. Unfortunately it is not currently possible to designate separate credit cards for each campaign or to have multiple administrators for the same ad account.

To add someone back to your News Feed, follow these steps:

1. Scroll down to the bottom of your News Feed and click "Edit Options."
2. If you are looking for a friend, scan the list to find that person. If you are looking for a public profile, select the Public Profiles tab.
3. Click "Add to News Feed" to see their posts again.
4. Click "Close" to save your changes.

There's a setting to control who sees your Wall Posts on the "Profile Information" section of the Privacy page. It is most likely on the "No One" setting. You can add your Wall to your profile page by adjusting the setting so that it's no longer on the most restricted level.

There are three settings on the Profile Information page of the Privacy Settings page that might be preventing your Wall from appearing.

Posts by Me: If you would like your friends to see content that you post, make sure that this setting is not restricted so that "No One" can see your posts.

Allow friends to post on my Wall: Check this box so that friends can post content to your Wall.

Posts by Friends: You can restrict certain groups of friends or specific friends from seeing posts that your friends make to your profile by adjusting the settings in this section.

It is possible that this person removed the content from your profile before you were able to view it. Unfortunately, there is no way for you to view content after it has been deleted.

In order to use a different currency for Facebook Ads, you'll need to create a second advertising account in the new currency within your existing Facebook account. To do so, visit the Settings tab in your Ads Manager and click the "edit" link next to your listed currency, then follow the steps to create a second account. You can maintain up to two advertising accounts within your Facebook Ads Manager, under a single login.

After you create your new account, you will have the option to copy your existing campaigns and ad settings to the new account and currency. The ads in your original account will automatically be paused and your daily spend limit will be reduced to the minimum.

You can invite people to an event who do not have a Facebook account. From the Guest List tab of the Edit Event page, list your friends' email addresses (separated by commas) in the box labeled "Invite People who are not on Facebook via Email" and click "Add". By receiving this invitation, they will be able to view the event information and RSVP. They will not be able to see any other Facebook pages unless they create an account.

Facebook reserves the right to remove and/or reclaim any username at any time for any reason.

Facebook did not generate the notification that you received. These notifications were created by a 3rd party application and can be safely disregarded.

For future reference, you can report an application for abuse by clicking "Report Application" at the bottom of the application’s About page. Alternatively, you can click "Report" at the bottom of any canvas page within the application.

If you would like to create an RSS Feed for your Facebook Notifications you can do so by going to your Inbox and selecting the Notifications tab. On the following page will be the option to "Subscribe to Notifications" on the right. After clicking "Your Notifications", Facebook will generate an RSS Feed that you can save to your bookmarks folder and view in your browser. You will now have an auto-updating RSS Feed that alerts you of important things on Facebook involving your account (i.e. Wall posts, photo tags etc).

To message all members of a group as the group’s admin, go to the group profile and follow the "Message All Members" link underneath the group photo. Please note that this option is only available for groups with 5,000 people or fewer.

If you have fewer than 5,000 in your group but are seeing an error screen when trying to send a message to all members, please submit a report to Facebook here.

You can invite people who do not have Facebook accounts to join your group if the group is set as global, but they will not be able to join until they register for Facebook.

Click the "Invite" tab on the "Edit Group" page and list your friends’ email addresses in the box labeled "Invite People via Email." Next, click "Send Invitations" to send email invitations to these people.

In order to join the group, they will need to register for Facebook. Instructions for joining Facebook will be included in the email they receive.

Groups and Pages serve different purposes on Facebook. Groups are meant to foster group discussion around a particular topic area while Pages allow entities such as public figures and organizations to broadcast information to their fans. Only the authorized representative of the entity can run a Page.

We are continually looking for ways to enhance overall user experience. The improved functionality of Facebook Groups makes it easier for members of groups to connect, share and even collaborate on a given topic or idea. Prior to the enhancements, users sometimes found that it took a lot of effort to keep up with items that were happening in the various groups that they belong to. By making content from Facebook Groups available in users’ News Feed, we are making it easier for them to stay current on all of the group related information that matter to them.

While viewing another person’s profile, you can use the Publisher to add content directly to their profile. Typing text alone in the Publisher box will create a Wall post.

When you share any content (e.g., a Wall post, video, or photo), a story will appear on your friend’s profile with a headline indicating that you have shared the information with them. The same story can also appear in the streams of other people who can view your friend’s profile.

If a person’s privacy settings prevent you from sharing a certain type of content on their profile, an error message will appear.

To share information privately with one person, click "Send a Message" below the person’s name on their profile.

If you are unable to log in to your account and are receiving a warning that your account appears to be compromised, Facebook has detected suspicious activity on your account and has temporarily suspended it as a security precaution. It is possible that your password was "phished," or stolen by a website designed to look like Facebook. You will be able to regain access to your account once you complete the automated security verification process. When you regain access to your account, please be sure to follow all of the suggested security precautions, including:

1. Password Protection: You should select a unique and complex password for your account and keep this entirely to yourself. Be sure that you use a complex string of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks that is at least six characters in length. It should also be different from other passwords you use elsewhere on the internet.
2. Private Browsing: Please make sure that you log out of your Facebook account and quit your browser when you’re done using the site. This is especially important when using a public computer or someone else's mobile device. You should also never check the "Keep me logged in" box when logging in from a public computer, as this will keep you logged in even after you close your browser window.
3. Secure Email: Since anyone who can read your email can probably also access your Facebook account, you should make sure that any email addresses associated with your account are secure. To ensure security, you should change the password for all of your email accounts and make sure that no two are the same. By varying your passwords, you can greatly decrease your account’s risk of being compromised in the future.
4. Security Question: If you have not done so already, you should add a security question to your account from the Account Settings page. You should choose a question and answer that you will remember, and no one else should be able to answer the question that you choose.
5. Log in at Facebook.com: Make sure that when you access the site, you always log in from a legitimate Facebook page with the facebook.com domain. Do not click any unfamiliar links and do not run any executable files (files ending in .exe) on your computer without knowing what they are. If something looks or feels suspicious, go directly to www.facebook.com to log in.
6. Run Anti-Virus Software: If your computer has been infected with a virus or with malware, you will need to run anti-virus software to remove these harmful programs and keep your information secure.

You must synchronize the iPhoto Exporter plugin with your Facebook account by "logging in" to Facebook from the plugin. On the "Facebook" tab of the "Export" window, click on the "Login" button at the upper left corner. This will launch a new window in your Internet browser that lets you log in.

Once you have successfully logged in from the plugin, the button will change to "Logout." If you need to switch Facebook accounts, or if you are having trouble exporting photos to your account, click on this button to log out, and then you may log in again.

Yes, you can redeem your advertising credits when you create a new Facebook Ad or for an existing Facebook Ad campaign. Coupon credits, however, cannot be applied to charges you accrued before you added the coupon to your account. Only new charges will be deducted from the coupon.

Please login to your Facebook advertising account by clicking on the "Ads and Pages" link in the Applications column. Click on the "Billing" tab at the top of the Ads Manager. Then click on the "Funding Sources" tab on the Billing Summary page. Click on the "Enter Coupon Code" and enter your coupon code as shown.

We are standardizing the idea of verification to apply to all of the applications on Facebook Platform. We are evolving the program to improve the overall user experience and ensure that applications on Facebook Platform meet verification standards. We intend to make sure that the experience that our users have on Platform is of the same quality as they experience elsewhere on Facebook, which is something that we are constantly asked for by developers.

Facebook will continue to be an open platform where developers can launch their application without approval from Facebook, however applications will also continue to be subject to review at any time. The Verification standards are now required of all applications on Platform and we're providing new principles, simplified policies and supporting examples to help developers understand what it takes to meet these standards. We will be proactively reviewing applications against these requirements. All developers must comply with the principles and policies, and we'll be upholding these expectations in the review process and in our enforcement efforts.

We will also expand our team responsible for policy enforcement on Platform so that they can support the upholding of the principles we've introduced as part of our roadmap. We intend to make sure that the experience that our users have on Platform is of the same quality as they experience elsewhere on Facebook. To prevent further harassment, we also recommend that you block both the application as well as the user. Blocking an application will prevent you from receiving invites to add it and will disable the application from using your information. This means your friends will no longer be able to communicate with you using this application. It will also prevent the application from publishing stories in your News Feed.

To block an application, go to the Application Directory and find the application you wish to block. Once found, click on the picture for the application to see its About page. On the About page you will have the option to "Block this Application" on the right side of the screen.

To block a user, go to the Privacy Settings page and enter the name of the person you want to block in the "Block People" search field at the bottom of the page. Blocking allows you to prevent all interactions with someone on Facebook. They won't be able to find you in searches, view your profile, or contact you, and will not be notified that you blocked them.

It is possible that your software is blocking sites that you must be able to access to use Facebook. Be sure to enter http://fbcdn.net/ and http://recaptcha.net into your antivirus program's or browser's "safe" list of websites.

To see what parts of their profiles your friends have recently updated, go to the Friends page and select the Recently Updated tab on the left hand menu.

If you have received a Facebook reactivation email in error, it is possible that another person has attempted to log in using your email address and password. We recommend that you reset your password to further secure your account. The password you select should be unique, complex, and kept entirely to yourself. You should also make sure that any email addresses associated with your account are secure. Remember that anyone who can read your email can probably also access your Facebook account.

If you deactivate your account from the "Deactivate Account" section on the Account page, your profile and all information associated with it are immediately made inaccessible to other Facebook users. What this means is that you effectively disappear from the Facebook service. However, if you want to reactivate at some point, we do save your profile information (friends, photos, interests, etc.), and your account will look just the way it did when you deactivated if you decide to reactivate it. Many users deactivate their accounts for temporary reasons and expect their information to be there when they return to the service.

If you do not think you will use Facebook again and would like your account deleted, please keep in mind that you will not be able to reactivate your account or retrieve any of the content or information you have added. If you would like your account permanently deleted with no option for recovery, log in to your account and then submit your request by clicking here.

If you are currently unable to access your account, you will need to reset your password in order to log in. In order to do so, click the "Forgot your password?" link that appears above the field where you would normally enter your password. Once you’ve followed the instructions to reset your password and can log in, you can deactivate or delete your account using the steps outlined above.

In the "Featured by Facebook" section, applications are periodically spotlighted by the Facebook team for being particularly well-designed and useful. These applications are editorially selected from the pool of Verified applications, and are chosen for providing a unique way to interact with or share with your friends. New applications will be chosen and featured on a regular basis.

You can confirm your Facebook account in any of the following ways:

• Follow the link in your sign up confirmation email.
• Use the Friend Finder tool to see which of your email contacts have profiles on Facebook.
• Follow the link in any email notification you receive from Facebook.
• To confirm your account with your mobile phone, you must be able to receive Facebook’s confirmation text on your mobile device. Enter your mobile phone number and we’ll text you a special code to confirm that it’s your phone. Start by going to the Mobile Texts page.

While your account is unconfirmed, you will not be able to send messages, write on your friends’ Walls, post in discussions, poke, tag your friends in photos or notes, comment on content, join groups, or fan Pages. This limit is in place due to security reasons.

Make sure that when you access the site, you always log in from a legitimate facebook.com domain. A good rule of thumb is if a URL ends in facebook.com, it is owned by Facebook. For example, "en-gb.facebook.com" ends in facebook.com and is therefore safe and legitimate.

When in doubt, just type "facebook.com" into your browser's address field. It's a good idea to bookmark the facebook.com address so that you don't have to enter it manually.

Other URLs that look like Facebook but do not follow this criterion could be illegitimate phishing websites. Never submit your login credentials to a site that looks suspicious.

Facebook has enabled third-party websites to use Facebook’s login and authentication system through a program called Facebook Connect. Facebook Connect allows users to take their Facebook identity, network, and privacy settings with them as they browse and interact with the rest of the Web.

Connect-enabled sites often provide an option to log in to Facebook directly from the site itself. When you see this, you should make sure that the login opens in a separate browser pop-up window, and that the Web address (URL) for the pop-up contains the proper "www.facebook.com" domain. If it does, you’ll know that it’s a legitimate Facebook page and not a phishing attempt, and you can log in safely and securely.

Note: if you’re logged in to Facebook, the Facebook Connect partner site should only ask you to "authorize" that site.

If you deactivate your account from the "Deactivate Account" section on the Account page, your profile and all information associated with it are immediately made inaccessible to other Facebook users. What this means is that you effectively disappear from the Facebook service. However, if you want to reactivate at some point, we do save your profile information (friends, photos, interests, etc.), and your account will look just the way it did when you deactivated if you decide to reactivate it. Many users deactivate their accounts for temporary reasons and expect their information to be there when they return to the service.

If you do not think you will use Facebook again and would like your account deleted, please keep in mind that you will not be able to reactivate your account or retrieve any of the content or information you have added. No. Mobile Uploads and Mobile Texts are both a part of Facebook Mobile, but you can use either one by itself.

You must synchronize the iPhoto Exporter plugin with your Facebook account by logging in to Facebook from the plugin.

To do so, follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Facebook tab of the Export window.
2. Click the "Login" button in the upper left corner. This will launch a new window in your Internet browser that lets you log in.

Once you have successfully logged in from the plugin, the button will change to "Logout." If you need to switch Facebook accounts, or if you are having trouble exporting photos to your account, click on this button to log out, and then you may log in again.

Yes, there are costs associated with Facebook Ads. You can estimate the cost as you create your ads. If you'd like to see what we recommend you bid for each click (CPC) or thousand impressions (CPM), just enter your targeting criteria and go through to the last step of ad creation (you won't have to enter any payment information until the next step, so you can do this without purchasing an ad). The "bid estimator" will show you the range of bids that are currently winning the auction among ads similar to yours.

When you run your ad you will only be charged for the number of clicks you receive (CPC) or the number of impressions of your ad that are displayed (CPM). The amount that you are charged will never exceed your daily budget. There are no additional fees for running Facebook Ads.

For any given ad unit, we select the best ad to run based on the cost per click or cost per thousand impressions and ad performance. We have a process in place that will automatically calculate the minimum price that the advertiser could pay and still have the highest cost per click or CPM ad, and the advertiser will only be billed that price. This price may be below the advertiser’s maximum cost per click or CPM. Because we lower the cost per click or CPM on your behalf, we recommend that you enter your true maximum cost per click or CPM when creating an ad. This will increase the likelihood that you do not miss out on clicks or impressions that you otherwise could have received.

Facebook enables you to see what’s happening with your friends through past events and real-time feeds of information. Highlights and the News Feed were combined into a single stream so that you could have more control over what you view on your home page and stay connected with your friends.

As a result of this change, you’ll notice that the Suggestions section has been moved to the right-hand column of the home page. Also, birthdays and events are displayed more prominently on the home page.

When you visit your friends' profiles near their birthdays, you may see the option to give them a gift rather than write on the wall as usual. If you'd like to write on their wall without sending a gift, simply click "Write" above the gift box.

Facebook Ads display in the right side column on Facebook pages in the Ad Space. In the Ad Space, up to three ads may show at one time on any given page. Your "friends box" will show the thumbnails of six randomly selected friends until you specify otherwise. To edit these settings, simply navigate to your profile page and then click on the pencil icon in the upper right hand corner of the "Friends" box.

The Edit Box that appears will allow you to specify how many friends are displayed and which friends you always want to show. If you want to ensure that friends from certain networks appear, you can select those networks in the "Include friends from" section. Finally, checking the "Show Networks Section" will display a list of all of the networks your friends are in.

You can customize your Friends box by clicking the pencil icon, or edit icon, at the top-right of the profile box. You will have the option to:

1. Show a six, nine or twelve friend.
2. Include friends from some or all of your networks.
3. Always show specific friends.
4. Show network information for your friends.

Yes, you may export the data as a CSV or a Microsoft Excel (.xls) formatted file. To do so, please visit your Ads Manager and click on the Reports tab. On this page, you can select the type of report you’d like to export.

A high school network:

If you do not have an option to add a high school network to your account, then you may be ineligible to register with a high school at this time. If you are over the age of 18, you will need to add your high school information to the Education section of your Profile, as you are no longer eligible to add a high school network. Note that people will still be able to find you in a Classmates Search.

• To join a college network, you need to have a valid school email address. If you've already graduated, college alumni email accounts work too. • To join a high school network, you must be a current high school student. If you have a school email address or an invitation from another member of your high school network, you will be able to affiliate during sign up. Alternatively, you can sign up for the site as an unaffiliated high school user. You will be asked to list your high school's name. Once you are on the site, you will need to be approved by a classmate in your high school network in order to join it. If you do not successfully affiliate with a high school network within sixty days, you will not be confirmed into the network and it will be removed from your account.
• To join a work network, you need to have a work email address from a supported company. This will put you on a network with your coworkers. Join a work network from the Networks tab of your Account Settings page, which can be accessed from the Settings drop-down menu at the top of every page.

You can message up to twenty Facebook friends or email addresses at once. However, if you are contacting someone on Facebook you are not friends with via a Facebook message, you can only message him or her individually.

Alternatively, if you are an admin of a Facebook group, you can message all the members of your group by going to the group profile and following the "Message All Members" link underneath the group photo. Note that this option is only available for groups with 5,000 people or fewer.

Our default is to allow anyone on Facebook to contact you via a message. This means that even people who cannot see your profile can message you. If you don't want people who are not your friends and not in any of your networks messaging you, you can change your privacy setting for this feature from the Contact Information section of your Privacy Settings page.

Blocking allows you to prevent most interactions with someone on Facebook. People you block won't be able to find you in searches, view your profile, or contact you with pokes, Wall posts, or personal messages. In addition, they will not be able to see your Wall posts, comments on mutual friends’ Walls, or that you are a member of the same group as them.

They will, however, see your comments on content that is posted by a mutual friend. You will see their comments as well.

We want Facebook to remain an environment where people can connect and share comfortably. Cyberbullying is defined as the use of any new technology to harass or intimidate someone and is considered to be abusive behavior from minor to minor, while cyberharassment typically involves adults. There are steps you can take to prevent this kind of behavior if it occurs.

Accept Friend Requests Safely

In order to prevent harassment from strangers, be careful to accept friend requests only from people you know in real life. Also, remember to report any messages or profiles that look suspicious. Facebook is based on a real-name culture, and fake profiles are regularly disabled when they're reported to us. Please also keep in mind that only confirmed friends can post to your Wall or contact you via Facebook Chat, so if you're worried that someone will make inappropriate posts or send offensive messages, just ignore that person's friend request.

Use the "Block" Feature to Stop Abusive Behavior

A block prevents specific people from viewing your profile. When you block people, any ties you currently have with them will be broken, and these people won't be able to contact you through Facebook. If you receive inappropriate or abusive communication, you can block the person by listing his or her name in the "Block People" box at the bottom of your Privacy Settings page. You can visit this page at any time by hovering your mouse over the "Settings" link at the top of any Facebook page and selecting the "Privacy Settings" option from the drop-down menu that appears.

Report Abusive Behavior Directly to Facebook

The most efficient way to report abuse is to do it in the same place it occurs on Facebook. For example, if you receive a harassing message in your Inbox, you can report the message by clicking on the "Report" link next to the sender's name as you are reading the message. If you receive a harassing message from a person who is a Facebook friend of yours, you should remove the person as a friend and report the message. Reporting the message as harassing will automatically add this person to your Block list. You can also use the "Report/Block person" link that appears at the bottom of the abusive user's profile. If you learn that someone is continuing to make abusive comments about you even after you've blocked them, you can ask a friend to report that person on your behalf. Reports are confidential and the user being reported does not know that they have been reported. After a report is submitted, we will investigate the issue and make a determination as to whether or not the content should remain on the site based on our Terms of Use. A Facebook administrator looks into each report thoroughly in order to decide the appropriate course of action.

Restrict Privacy Settings

To restrict the amount of information that potential bullies may have access to, customize your privacy settings so that certain people can't access information like your Wall, photos, or profile. You can also change your privacy settings if you are uncomfortable being found in searches or having your profile viewed publicly. Privacy on Facebook is controlled primarily from the Privacy Settings page. You can visit this page at any time by hovering your mouse over the "Settings" link at the top of any page of Facebook and selecting the "Privacy Settings" option from the drop-down menu that appears.

Respond to Abusers in the Right Way

Cyberbullies often seek a reaction from the people they harass. When they fail to get one, they often give up gradually. Rather than responding to a bully via Inbox, a Wall post, or Facebook Chat, you can delete offensive posts from your Wall or messages from your Inbox and then use the "Block" or "Report" functions to resolve the issue safely. To delete an offensive Wall post, hover over the post in question, click the "Remove" button that appears, and select "Delete" in the dialogue box. To delete a message from Inbox, simply click the "Delete" button at the top of the message. Only confirmed friends can post to your Wall or send you a message through Chat. If you are receiving posts and Chat messages you don't like, you should consider removing the sender from your friends list.

Every Facebook user has the ability to customize his or her privacy settings. Users are able to limit who can view their profile (e.g., everyone, only their friends, etc.) and to choose who can see specific parts of their profile (e.g., their contact information, their personal favorites, their work history, etc.).

Privacy settings can be accessed through the "Privacy Settings" link from the "Settings" drop-down available at the top right side of any page on the site.

Facebook requires its users to be at least 13 years old before they can create an account. Providing false information to create an account is a violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.

Applicable laws may give parents the right to access personal information their child has provided before Facebook follows its policy of promptly deleting such accounts. If you are aware of your underage child having an account on Facebook, you can show them how to delete their account by having them log into their profile and following this link.

If you would like to report an underage user (under 13 years of age), please do so here. We will promptly delete the account of any underage user that is reported to us through this form.
