A campaign is a grouping of ads you create in your account. All of the ads in a campaign share the same daily budget and schedule, but the individual ads have separate bids and targeting.

Campaigns are useful because they allow you to group ads according to whatever criteria are useful to you. For example, if you're running ads for two different businesses, you may choose to maintain a separate campaign of ads for each business. You can pull reports on a campaign level and see how that group of ads is performing.

Clicks are counted each time a user clicks through your ad to your landing page.

We have a variety of measures in place to ensure that we only report and charge advertisers for legitimate clicks, and not clicks that come from automated programs, or clicks that may be repetitive, abusive, or otherwise inauthentic. Due to the proprietary nature of our technology, we're not able to give you more specific information about these systems.

The "Advertising Performance" report will give you information about your ads' performance in terms of impressions, clicks, click-through rates, etc. The "Responder Demographics" report will give you more information about the users who are viewing or taking action on your ads.

You can also choose to summarize your report by Account, Campaign or Ad. Account reports will give you statistics at the account level, which means that all clicks and impressions will be totaled across all ads and campaigns. The Campaign reports will break these statistics down to the campaign level, and the Ad reports will break them down further to the individual ad level.

The "View" option allows you to choose what unit of time your report will be broken down by. Monthly reports will give you statistics totaled by month, while weekly or daily reports will be totaled by those units of time. Please note that not all time options will be available for all reports.

Ad/Campaign Name: The name of the ad/campaign being tracked by that row.

Ad/Campaign ID: The unique ID number of the ad/campaign being tracked by that row.

Demographic: This is how he data is summarized for the current row you’re looking at. For instance, if it says "gender_age", then this row will tell you about how a certain gender and age respond to your ad. Other options include "country" (partitioned by country) and "region" (partitioned by states/regions within countries).

Bucket 1/Bucket 2: These columns give further information about what demographic is being reported in the row. The values in these columns depend on the value of "demographic" column in the row. For instance, if the row is a "gender_age" row, these columns will give you information about what gender and what age is being reported. However, if the row is a "region" row, it will tell you what country and what state is being reported.

% of Impressions: The percentage of unique user impressions served to the demographic reported, as compared to the total number served. Note that this column may be blank if there were not a sufficient number of impressions served to this group. We do this to protect the privacy of our users. This does not necessarily mean that 0 impressions were served to this demographic.

Under normal circumstances, your ad will begin being served within an hour after being purchased. Statistics will be available in your account within one hour after delivery starts. Exportable daily reports will be available 12 hours after the end of the day reported.

Please note that you are not guaranteed any number of clicks or impressions. If you are not receiving as many clicks as you would like, we suggest increasing your maximum bid and/or making your ad more relevant. It is also possible that your targeting constraints are too restrictive, and there are not enough users who satisfy the criteria. Thus, you should also consider relaxing your targeting constraints.

Hourly data is updated in your account on the hour for the last full hour. Exportable daily data is updated 12 hours after the full day ends, in order for our system to accurately analyze the entire day's performance. There maybe be a 48-72 hour delay before your unique impressions and unique click data appear in your exportable reports. We reserve the right to change the update frequency at our discretion.

We want Facebook to remain an environment where people can connect and share comfortably. Cyberbullying is defined as the use of any new technology to harass or intimidate someone and is considered to be abusive behavior from minor to minor, while cyberharassment typically involves adults. There are steps you can take to prevent this kind of behavior if it occurs.

Accept Friend Requests Safely

In order to prevent harassment from strangers, be careful to accept friend requests only from people you know in real life. Also, remember to report any messages or profiles that look suspicious. Facebook is based on a real-name culture, and fake profiles are regularly disabled when they're reported to us. Please also keep in mind that only confirmed friends can post to your Wall or contact you via Facebook Chat, so if you're worried that someone will make inappropriate posts or send offensive messages, just ignore that person's friend request.

Use the "Block" Feature to Stop Abusive Behavior

A block prevents specific people from viewing your profile. When you block people, any ties you currently have with them will be broken, and these people won't be able to contact you through Facebook. If you receive inappropriate or abusive communication, you can block the person by listing his or her name in the "Block People" box at the bottom of your Privacy Settings page. You can visit this page at any time by hovering your mouse over the "Settings" link at the top of any Facebook page and selecting the "Privacy Settings" option from the drop-down menu that appears.

Report Abusive Behavior Directly to Facebook

The most efficient way to report abuse is to do it in the same place it occurs on Facebook. For example, if you receive a harassing message in your Inbox, you can report the message by clicking on the "Report" link next to the sender's name as you are reading the message. If you receive a harassing message from a person who is a Facebook friend of yours, you should remove the person as a friend and report the message. Reporting the message as harassing will automatically add this person to your Block list. You can also use the "Report/Block person" link that appears at the bottom of the abusive user's profile. If you learn that someone is continuing to make abusive comments about you even after you've blocked them, you can ask a friend to report that person on your behalf. Reports are confidential and the user being reported does not know that they have been reported. After a report is submitted, we will investigate the issue and make a determination as to whether or not the content should remain on the site based on our Terms of Use. A Facebook administrator looks into each report thoroughly in order to decide the appropriate course of action.

Restrict Privacy Settings

To restrict the amount of information that potential bullies may have access to, customize your privacy settings so that certain people can't access information like your Wall, photos, or profile. You can also change your privacy settings if you are uncomfortable being found in searches or having your profile viewed publicly. Privacy on Facebook is controlled primarily from the Privacy Settings page. You can visit this page at any time by hovering your mouse over the "Settings" link at the top of any page of Facebook and selecting the "Privacy Settings" option from the drop-down menu that appears.

Respond to Abusers in the Right Way

Cyberbullies often seek a reaction from the people they harass. When they fail to get one, they often give up gradually. Rather than responding to a bully via Inbox, a Wall post, or Facebook Chat, you can delete offensive posts from your Wall or messages from your Inbox and then use the "Block" or "Report" functions to resolve the issue safely. To delete an offensive Wall post, hover over the post in question, click the "Remove" button that appears, and select "Delete" in the dialogue box. To delete a message from Inbox, simply click the "Delete" button at the top of the message. Only confirmed friends can post to your Wall or send you a message through Chat. If you are receiving posts and Chat messages you don't like, you should consider removing the sender from your friends list.

If you see an objectionable advertisement and the web address (URL) in your browser window begins with "http://apps.facebook.com/", this is most likely an advertisement running within an external application and not through Facebook. However, Facebook believes that ads are most effective when they are relevant and meet user expectations for a valuable and trusted experience.

Facebook is committed to providing the best user experience possible and we continue to investigate ads that violate our policies. We also encourage developers and ad networks to maintain high quality applications and advertising practices and may take further action against developers who host ads that violate our policy.

If you have confirmed that the advertisement is running within an external application, you can report it to both the developer of that application and to Facebook by clicking on the "Report" link in the lower-left of the page.

If the advertisement is on Facebook, please follow the instructions listed here to report the advertisement.

Facebook Ads for Pages and Events

As with all Facebook Ads, you will bid for Facebook Ads for Pages and ...
As with all Facebook Ads, you will bid for Facebook Ads for Pages and Events on a per-click (CPC) or per-impression (CPM) basis. The specific criteria for what counts as a "click" on each type of ad is described below.

Ads for Pages
If you choose to bid and pay per click (CPC), your clicks will include clicks on the title, image or ad body, as well as clicks on the "Become a Fan" link. When a user becomes a fan of your Page through the ad, that action will also be reported as an "Action" in your Facebook Ad reports. You won't be charged if a user clicks on his friends’ names appearing with the ad.

Ads for Events
If you choose to bid on a CPC basis, this will include clicks on your title, image, or ad body, as well as "Yes" and "Maybe" RSVPs through the link on the ad. You won't be charged when a user clicks on his friends’ names appearing with the ad, or for incomplete or "No" RSVPs.

If you choose to pay per thousand impressions (CPM), you will be billed when your ad is shown on the site, regardless of whether the user interacts with it.
As with all Facebook Ads, your reports will show you how your ads are ...
As with all Facebook Ads, your reports will show you how your ads are performing with impressions, clicks and CTR. Clicks will include clicks on your title, image, body and clicks on the "Become a Fan" link or RSVP "Yes" and "Maybe"s. In addition, you will see a breakdown of your respective friend actions (users becoming fans of your Page, or RSVPing to your Event) so that you can measure how these features are performing for your ads.

Facebook reports valid clicks. Many third-party reporting tools instead count page visits or views, which may not correspond directly to clicks. Additionally, your third-party reporting tool may not count certain clicks because the tool requires that your browser have cookies, Javascript, and/or images enabled in order to record statistics. Your third-party tools may also count clicks that we have already identified and filtered out of your reports and charges. Please remember that statistics measured at daily intervals may be based on different time zones, resulting in different daily totals.

If your ad links directly to the site you're advertising, and you're trying to track clicks on that ad by looking at page visits with facebook.com as the source, it's likely that your statistics will be different than the reports we provide to you. This is an expected discrepancy, as many of the page visit sources will be lost with this kind of tracking process. If you’d like more information about how to successfully use third-party systems to track your page visits, we recommend contacting the tracking company directly.
If you have reason to believe you’re currently receiving invalid click...
If you have reason to believe you’re currently receiving invalid clicks or have received invalid clicks in the last two months, please fill out this form to request an investigation. If we determine that you were in fact charged for invalid clicks that we did not previously detect, we will credit your account accordingly.

When you contact us, please provide as many details as possible about the suspected activity so that we can thoroughly investigate your report. We often request server logs documenting the traffic to your site during the time period in question so that we can compare our logs to the server logs and explain any discrepancies that may be occurring. We cannot accept third-party aggregations for this purpose because they don’t contain the level of detail needed for investigation.

To see a list of the videos that are currently encoding for your account, go to the "Videos Encoding" tab of the My Videos page. 1. Run anti-virus software: If your computer has been infected with a virus or with malware, you will need to run anti-virus software to remove these harmful programs and keep your information secure.

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to filter out these notifications. If you do not want to see notifications from a certain application, just uncheck the box next to the application's name on the right side of the "Notifications" tab. You will not receive any more notifications from that application unless you check the box again.

If you believe that a third-party application is misusing the Notifications feature, you can report the application for abuse by going to the application’s About page and clicking "Report Application" at the bottom of the page, or by clicking "Report" at the bottom of any canvas page within the application. Be sure to give a detailed, accurate description of the problem and include links (URLs) to the relevant pages. We also recommend that you check the "I would like a copy of this report to be sent to the developer of the application" box to bring this matter to the attention of the developer.

Facebook takes the safety of its users very seriously and makes a significant effort to take down any objectionable material that may be posted on the site. We encourage users to report offensive profiles, messages, groups, events, shares, notes and photos. Reported items are then reviewed by Facebook administrators and removed if deemed in violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Users also have the option of "blocking" other users, which will ensure that they are unable to find them in a search, view their profile or send them a message.

Facebook requires its users to be at least 13 years old before they can create an account. Providing false information to create an account is a violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.

Applicable laws may give parents the right to access personal information their child has provided before Facebook follows its policy of promptly deleting such accounts. If you are aware of your underage child having an account on Facebook, you can show them how to delete their account by having them log into their profile and following this link.

If you would like to report an underage user (under 13 years of age), please do so here. We will promptly delete the account of any underage user that is reported to us through this form.

If a preview is not displaying correctly for your URL, you may need to contact the webmaster of the site you are trying to share to check whether it meets Facebook's requirements.

In order to generate a Share preview successfully, a website must include the following three meta tags in its source HTML:

< meta name="title" content="Article headline here" />
< meta name="description" content="Article summary here" />
< link rel="image_src" href="http://www.example.com" />

Please make sure that this site includes these tags in the section of its HTML. Also, note that these tags are case-sensitive and URLs must be absolute. For more information, review the "Making sure Share Preview works" section listed here.

If you have determined that this site includes all of the necessary metatags but it is still not generating the correct preview, please submit a report here.

Security: Account was hacked or "phished"

We are currently working with people whose accounts have been affected by money transfer scams

The money transfer scam is characterized by cybercriminals using Facebook in an attempt to trick your friends into sending them money. Most frequently, these criminals will gain control of a Facebook account, and use the Chat or Status features to claim that you are stuck in a far away location and in need of financial assistance.

It is possible that your email account was compromised as well, as obtaining access to a victim’s email is one of the primary ways these cybercriminals have been operating. Please take the following steps to ensure the security of your Facebook account:
  1. Select a unique and complex password for your Facebook account and keep this entirely to yourself. You can do this from the Account Settings page of your Facebook account or by using the "Forgot Password" link on the login page.

  2. Select a new, unique password for any email address associated with your account, making sure to avoid using the same password for any account.

  3. Verify that you control all of the email addresses associated with your account on the Contact Email section at:

  4. https://www.facebook.com/editaccount.php

  5. Add a security question to your account from the Account Settings page if you have not done so already.

  6. Visit the following page for more information about Facebook security and how to report suspicious material:

  7. http://www.facebook.com/security
If you require further assistance in securing your account, please enter your account information in this form so that we can make sure your account is secure.
It is possible that malicious software was downloaded to your computer...
It is possible that malicious software was downloaded to your computer or that your password was stolen by a phishing website designed to look like Facebook. Please carefully follow the steps provided:
  1. Run anti-virus software: If your computer has been infected with a virus or with malware, you will need to run anti-virus software to remove these harmful programs and keep your information secure.

  2. Reset password: From the Account Setting page, you will need to create a new password. Be sure to use a different password than you use for other sites or services, made up of a complex string of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks that is at least six characters in length. Do not use words found in the dictionary.

  3. Never click suspicious links: It is possible that your friends could unwillingly send spam, viruses, or malware through Facebook if their accounts are infected. Do not click this material and do not run any ".exe" files on your computer without knowing what they are. Also, be sure to use the most current version of your browser as they contain important security warnings and protection features. Current versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer warn you if you have navigated to a suspected phishing site, and we recommend that you upgrade your browser to the most current version. You can also find more information about phishing and how to avoid it at http://www.antiphishing.org/consumer_recs.html and http://onguardonline.gov/phishing.html.

Phishing is an online attempt to trick a user by pretending to be an official login page or an official email from an organization that you would have an account with, such as a bank or an email provider, in order to obtain a user’s login and account information. In the case of a phishing login page, the login page may look identical to the login page you would normally go to, but the website does not belong to the organization you have an account with (the URL web address of the website should reflect this). In the case of a phishing email, the email may look like an email you would get from the organization you have an account with and get emails from, but the link in the email that it directs you to takes you to the above phishing login page, rather than a legitimate login page for that organization.

To prevent your account information from being obtained in a phishing scheme, only log in to legitimate pages of the websites you have an account with. For example, "www.facebook.example.com" is not a legitimate Facebook page on the "www.facebook.com" domain, but "www.facebook.com/example" is a legitimate Facebook page because it has the "facebook.com" domain. When in doubt, you can always just type in "facebook.com" into your browser to return to the legitimate Facebook site.
If you are still unable to access your profile, please send us more information regarding the issue so we can investigate. Please submit your report here.

If your account has been hacked and you can still access your login email address, please attempt to reset the password to your account by selecting the "Forgot your password?" link that appears above the Password field on the Facebook Login page. An email will be sent to you with steps for completing the process.

If your account has been hacked and the login email on your account has also been compromised or has been changed, please send us information about the account so we can look into it further and hopefully restore access. Please submit your report here.

You can view your ad as well as all the statistics related to the ads you have created on the Ad Campaigns page of the Ads Manager. On this page you can change your cost per click or CPM at any time while your ads are running, pause or unpause your ads, and delete your ads.

You will not see your ad actually running on Facebook unless you are a member of the target audience that you selected for your ad. Additionally, even if you are a member, you aren’t guaranteed to see your ad. This doesn't mean your ad isn't running, just that our system has determined that other ads would be more relevant to you. As long as you are seeing impressions reported in your ad statistics, this means your ad is running and can be seen by users.

Powerful reporting and insight tools are provided free to Page Admins. On a cumulative and week-over-week basis, these granular reports will measure reach (e.g., impressions, clicks), viral impact (e.g., fan adds), responder insights (e.g., gender and age), and engagement (e.g., video plays and wall posts) of visitors to the Page. One advantage of using the applications designed by Facebook is the ability to receive these free, regular, detailed updates on the growth of the page.

Please check your spam/junk email filter to ensure that emails coming from Facebook have not been incorrectly placed in this folder. Be sure to add the "@facebookmail.com" email domain to your email account's safe senders list.

If you are still not receiving emails from Facebook, please contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to ensure that they are not blocking email traffic coming from Facebook.

There are a variety of reasons why Facebook may issue an advertising credit. Such credits will be automatically added to your ad account's funding sources, and when you run ads, the charges will first be deducted from the credit before your credit card is charged.

If our system detects that there have been invalid clicks on your account, we may automatically credit your account with the value of those clicks. Please note that we filter out some clicks for a variety of reasons before they ever appear in your reports or charges. We may issue a credit if we identify certain clicks as invalid after you've been charged for them.

Similarly, if there are any issues on our end that interfere with the correct delivery of your ads, Facebook may issue a credit equal to the value of any incorrectly delivered clicks.

Help Center

If you are unable to log in to your account and are receiving a warnin...
If you are unable to log in to your account and are receiving a warning that your account appears to be compromised, Facebook has detected suspicious activity on your account and has temporarily suspended it as a security precaution. It is possible that your password was "phished," or stolen by a website designed to look like Facebook. You will be able to regain access to your account once you complete the automated security verification process. When you regain access to your account, please be sure to follow all of the suggested security precautions, including:
  1. Password Protection: You should select a unique and complex password for your account and keep this entirely to yourself. Be sure that you use a complex string of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks that is at least six characters in length. It should also be different from other passwords you use elsewhere on the internet.
  2. Private Browsing: Please make sure that you log out of your Facebook account and quit your browser when you’re done using the site. This is especially important when using a public computer or someone else's mobile device. You should also never check the "Keep me logged in" box when logging in from a public computer, as this will keep you logged in even after you close your browser window.
  3. Secure Email: Since anyone who can read your email can probably also access your Facebook account, you should make sure that any email addresses associated with your account are secure. To ensure security, you should change the password for all of your email accounts and make sure that no two are the same. By varying your passwords, you can greatly decrease your account’s risk of being compromised in the future.
  4. Security Question: If you have not done so already, you should add a security question to your account from the Account Settings page. You should choose a question and answer that you will remember, and no one else should be able to answer the question that you choose.
  5. Log in at Facebook.com: Make sure that when you access the site, you always log in from a legitimate Facebook page with the facebook.com domain. Do not click any unfamiliar links and do not run any executable files (files ending in .exe) on your computer without knowing what they are. If something looks or feels suspicious, go directly to www.facebook.com to log in.
  6. Run Anti-Virus Software: If your computer has been infected with a virus or with malware, you will need to run anti-virus software to remove these harmful programs and keep your information secure.

Some advertisements that run on third-party applications link to services that ask for your cell phone number and subsequently send text messages to your phone. While Facebook is not responsible for these advertisements, we recommend that you send a text message containing the word "STOP" (without the quotation marks) to the number from which you're receiving the messages in order to cancel the service.

You may report an application containing these advertisements to its developer(s) and to Facebook by clicking on the "Report" link that appears in the lower left corner of any page within the application. Unfortunately, we have no control over your mobile service. We suggest you contact your mobile provider and explain the situation to them.

You can sign up for a username starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Saturday, June 13, 2009, by visiting www.facebook.com/username. After selecting one for your application or company name, you will see a green check mark indicating that the name is available before you actually claim it. In some cases, your desired username may not be available because someone has already selected it or because we've reserved certain names that have been brought to our attention in an effort to help third parties protect their intellectual property and other rights. If your username is unavailable or you wish to report that another username infringes your intellectual property rights, please click here.

Facebook does not give third party applications or ad networks the right to use your name or picture in ads. The ads you see running within application pages are served by ad networks outside of Facebook, and not by Facebook itself.

You can report concerns you have about the content or behavior of any platform application directly to the developer of that application by going to the application's About page and clicking "Report Application" at the bottom of the page, or by clicking "Report" at the bottom of any canvas page within the application.

Please note that your privacy settings for Facebook Ads do not control application behavior, but we will take action on applications that violate our Terms of Use or SSR.
