I think that says more about economists than it does about human psychology. Until very recently, economists have insisted that humans will always act rationally, where rational equates with maximizing one's own profit or position.

@Wendy - keep some reminder with you at all times. Maybe a picture of Ireland, a shamrock on your key chain, or stickers in your wallet near your credit cards will help. Good luck!

in the context of u.s. international relations, i'd love to see more thorough coverage of pakistan's instability in the interest of trying to figure out how the u.s. can possibly accomplish anything in afghanistan without a significant change in u.s. presence/the pakistani government/etc. etc.

otherwise, i'd love to see stories detailing the impact that economic development in southeast asia and africa has on both weak and powerful countries alike.

thanks for fielding my comment on the air (if i thought that would happen i would have given it more consideration...).

personally, i think the pakistani government's engagement of the pakistani taliban may not show quite as much potential as suggested. for one, as i understand it, the pakistani military isn't so much leaving the afghan taliban ... See Morefor later as it is meticulously avoiding it, and the differences between afghan and pakistani taliban themselves, and how they need to be approached, are vast. plus i sympathize with the notionl that pakistan has a vested interest in the afghan taliban flourishing in afghanistan to some extent, as that means they aren't operating in pakistan, or at least not as much.

The World Order!!

Such an important event in human history and is being ignored by most of the media! H-e-l-l-o-o-o-o-o

Just yesterday I read an immensely interesting encyclical (Caritas in veritate) by Pope B, got out in July of last year!!!!!!!! (I am not a Catholic) What he, as a religious leader, said is so very relevant. All international leaders are talking about this but the media has been incapable of giving us an "aerial view" of the whole and how globalization and the crisis are changing the very world we live in.... See More

But yes, even NPR was talking about Tiger Woods, Rush Limbaugh, M. Jackson, etc.

AGHHHH!!!

For the past 3 days I have been listening to CSPAN instead of my NPR local station. And...I am liking it!
