Fishbone opened the show. Their site says they toured with RHCP in 1988.

Wendell Oliver Can somebody give me the date (at least the year) when Red Hot Chili Peppers played park elevator? Fishbone opened. I have video and will post soon. The tape is so old that it's sticking together and I'm working to correct that problem.
Also, was the Tacky Party held there one year? My memory, ahem, is a bit hazy
about those days.

John Oh wow, I can't believe I found this page. Park (and 1313) was my all-time favorite club ever. Best music, best people in town. Is Nancy Young here somewhere? lol I have been looking for her FOREVER...she used to work up front too. I worked on a Fetchin' Bones video there once with some friends of mine, for "Steam...whistle." Came out so great...and actually got some decent airplay on 120 Minutes. Saw some amazing shows here. Yeah I remember the smoke machine too. Yeesh.

Steve Nichols I had some pictures to add to the albums, but didn't see a way. Help?

Ron Wallace

Ron Wallace How can you not remember when Charlotte almost had a soul. Park Elevator was before all the "STEPFORD" clubs and entertainment in Charlotte. Park Elevator, 1313, hell I'd take Whispers and Plum Crazy back at this point. At least we can say we knew it when there was potential. What about reggae at the lake in the summer...s? Sorry, I know it's the Park Elevator site, but you brought back all the memories. Thanks for that by the way.

Speaking of memories.....
Most of you are probably too young to remember when Park Center (now Grady Cole, next to CPCC) in the late 60's, early 70's hosted James Brown, Wilson Picket, Otis Redding and most of their R&B contemporaries. Also Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd and many of the early 70's groups. The building was a POS, but it is unreal the ... See Moreamount of talent that went through there. I even saw Elvis Costello there a few years back.
We do still have a few clubs that have a soul. Tremont, Damnit Janet, Double Door, among others.

Bill Hayes

Bill Hayes OMG I cant believe I ran across Park Elevator. Its kinda funny, a few weeks ago I ran across my old Park Elevator T shirt that I got back in 1990 or 91. I will never get rid of it. I remember working the door checking IDs there with Rachel and was it Lisa? I cant remember the names.

Laura Rose

Laura Rose I worked there when it was called 1313, during the Cramps/Pressure Boys/Dinosaur Jr. days. Loved it! I wonder where all the other door crowd are from the turn of the 80s/90s...
