Dan Jackson - manifest photography

Photography for me is about image making and communication. I have a background in painting and "fine" art and that foundation remains the cornerstone of my picture making process.

I work in the Tableaux style to create carefully constructed images that challenge the traditional method of taking pictures. I prefer a more painterly approach. I don't take pictures, I make pictures.

My images occasionally reference photography but I rigorously study other disciplines such as illustration, printmaking, painting and ceramics, sculpture and cinema.

My intention is to create a body of work that is timeless as opposed to fashionable or timely; To create images where verite is not captured recorded or discovered but is made manifest through a process of fabrication & deception.
