Every one... of us can contribute a little something for Burma. Let us keep the struggle for freedom and democracy in Burma going and stronger than ever.

One
of the most sought-after but strictly banned items in Burma is the
movie, Rambo IV that came out in 2008. The movie is banned because it,
more or less, depicts the cruelities and atrocities committed by the
Burmese Army against its own ethnic civilians, using them as slave
laborers, sexual exploits, mine sweepers and hu...man shields.
Despite knowing that they face long jail sentences if banned items like this are found in their possession, the Burmese people still find ways to get a hold of the movie. It is through small acts like these that the Burmese people show their resistance against the military regime.

Children are usually picked up in public areas by army and civilian recruiters who traffick them at will for cash rewards. They are often forced to lie about their age being 18, and are beaten and threatened against leaving the army. Media and press restrictions in Burma are amongst the most draconian in the world. Jouranlists who voice anti-regime rhetorics are often arrested, tortured, and given long jail sentences. Even when Cyclone Nargis struck, the Burma's state newspaper refused to acknowledge the damage done by this natural disaster - that ...people lost their homes, their loved ones and had nothing to eat or drink but instead the newspaper merely reported on the rich banquets attended by the senior military generals.

In Burma, there is a total ban of freedom of expression. Even possessing an anti-regime flyer or a poster or a flag is enough to get anyone in jail for a minimum of 5 years. Artists are restricted from using art as a form of outlet or expression. Just look at Zarganar, a renowned comedian who's serving 35 years in pris...on for producting skits that ridicule the regime.
But here in the US, we have freedom of expression. Let's use ours to promote Burma's.
