Tim, your daughter immediately understood that the act of waiting is a way to achieve reward and she wanted to double it. This means 1) she likes marshmallows so she wants more; 2) she doesn't like marshmallow enough to feel the torture of the waiting duration and 3) she sees things before they happen (planning and investing) I believe she will be successful in anything she likes.

What about the percentage of kids who ate the marshmellows and are successful. Perhaps only 5% or 10% of them? If that? Still, whatever that percentage, perhaps those kids have some kind of principle going on that would have to be discovered. And what is that principle? Perhaps it is an even rarer and to be sought after quality.? But I might have eaten the marshmellow.
